FF12 (which I very much liked) wasnt quite there yet it lacked a good story but the gameplay was great. i dont want more from the same i dont want ps1 styled FF. I want something new. BTW nobody got the overworld concept. it was necessary to do it that way it just wasnt possible to make one big map with visible monster inhabiting the world so they made random fights. but this was all done to create an illusion of a huge lively world. and as soon as they could get rid of it (ps2) they did. they should go new ways and try to improve their final fantasy a cross over between final fantasy and fallout would be interesting. |
I'm pretty sure the world map has been confirmed to be returning for FF13 Versus and FF Type 0. and its probably going to return for FF15. i think they didnt have it in FF10 or 12 because the amount of time it would take to program something on that scale, which would explain why Versus has taken over 6 years.
besides i think Dragon Quest 8 did such an excellent job of this, and FF12 put a lot of depth into the open dungeon exploration. personally i would love to see a return of the world map, like DQ8 did it so well, with the same depth of exploration that FF12 had.
