Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo fears 3DS price cut backlash

Nintendo better hope that those early adapters all have wi fi access or some people are going to be mad

i wasn't to big a fan of handhelds let-alone 3DS so the price cut means nothing until i see 20 new IP for the device.

yes people next gen has begun and i have a whole new set of rules, and it starts with handhelds

20 New IP is a bit steep for any device, is it not?

and they also have to be innovative IP, and cater to my interest.

should i ask for more? if a platform manufacture can't dedicate a strong list of IP new or old then why buy there platform?  we all need more then the familiar don't we?

don't we deserve more then Nintendo's usual suspect's?

I'm kinda kickin myself in the ass right now...damn $80 price cut...could've bought a game with that(or put it towards the PSV)

They are just really humble... I paid $320 for my 3ds on day 1, plus $120 for two games... But I am ok, I dont regret even a bit... The 3ds is worth all of that and more...

The moment the psv was announced for 250$ i just don't see how anyone didn't see this coming. 80$ is way too much though.

If you are worried about keeping the fans' loyalty, Nintendo, then make some damn games for the 3DS that people actually want! Not Luigi's Mansion 2, Kid Icarus, Steel Diver, and a mutant cross between Mario Galaxy and NSMB. The only game that interests me right now, and seemingly the case for many others, is Zelda OOT, which is a remake.

As for the massive price cut, it certainly brings me closer to taking the plunge, but I'm still not there yet. I'm looking for at least $120 (as that is what I spent on the DS), and at least a handful of games that interest me, instead of 2. In the meamtime, I will be spending my money on a refurbished Dreamcast and some games, as my old one broke awhile ago and I have been seriously craving some Crazy Taxi, Chu Chu Rocket, and Powerstone 2.

Even if it weren't for that, we all knew a cut to $200 was by year end. Nintendo just went ahead and 1up everyone's prediction, lol.

At this moment i wouldn't buy a 3DS even if it was at 50euros, because for me there are no must have games on the system now and to me games are top priority. I might buy it closer to christmas or next year.

People could still be waiting for games, as before, and now, as the first one came so early, for another price cut too! :-O

i bought my 3ds day one, stood in line, and all that bullshit. im not one bit disappointed and the fact that they are giving away 20 games for us is just icing. who the hell else would do that?

and for naysayers who say: 'well nintendo only has luigis mansion 2 and kid icarus and some mutant cross of smg and nsmb wii blah blahbababab blah bal.' even if youre not interested in these games its not like those are the only games that are going to come out in the entire systems life. come on now, these games wont even be relevant in less than a year. people are so short sighted these days.
and to address the mutant cross that is mario 3d.. i dont even know where to begin with this. first of all, its going to be a bit stale if they keep the two separated. and second, what is so wrong about taking classic elements of mario and putting them in a 3d environment? personally, ive been waiting for this for quite some time and finally glad nintendo decided to do it.

heres the thing, nintendo takes risks with things, and they come up with new ideas.
nintendo isnt like call of duty, ok?
nintendo, for better or for worse, are makers of their own destiny, and you have to at least give them that. theyre not like microsoft or sony; theyre leaders and a serious force in this industry.
