Forums - Sales - Someone explains this to me : FFXIII outsells Mass Effect 2 by 1'632'195 in the west

According to the developers FF13 isnt an RPG either...

if you want to compare RPGs, could someone explain how FF13 failed to meet the sales of Skyrim, which is undoubtibly an RPG. and its a much fairer comparasion since The Elder Scrolls is a well established series, unlike Mass Effect. and it looks like Skyrim will sell more copies than FF13 and FF13-2 combined.

all of this is irrelevant. this thread is over 6 months old. it was created in order to justify the 'quality' of FF13 by insulting Mass Effect.

sadly the FF13 advocate who created this thread has gone into hiding with the critical and commecial 'success' of FF13-2 now in question.

@outlawaren, i brought this thread back because Mass Effect 3 goes on sale tommorow, with the possibility of a multiplatform release putting it on an even playing field with FF13-2. rather than insulting Mass Effect as the OP and other advocates have intended, it has backfired along with the quality and sales of FF13-2. poetic justice perhaps...

Just to say, I've not gone into "hiding". Nor did I insult Mass Effect, as I precised that I had not played Mass Effect and that therefore the comparison never was about quality. I just wanted to point out that the hate towards FFXIII was not justified. It still isn't, because even though I do admit that Mass Effect and Elder Scroll have taken the lead in the RPG world, FFXIII-2 got positive feedback (save for gamrreview but it did let the reviewer know his review was unwelcomed), not to mention the fact it still shows legs and outsells Mass Effect 3 on PS3.

As we know, the probability of an FFXIII-3 is growing, and I'm the first one happy about this, because I can't get enough of the Lightning saga. Still, I don't expect FF to recover saleswise and it will probably more or less fall in a sort of big niche, far from the big western games. But I've gotten used to this, because JRPGs and WRPGs are 2 opposite things. But again, I admit my defeat.

Could it be bad taste or perhaps a complete unwillingness to read reviews / watch gameplay videos / play demos?

Sir, what I tried to say with this thread is that no one has the right to call a game that millions of people have enjoyed "bad taste". Just to say, I read the reviews, I played the Mass Effect 2 demo, many firends hotly recommended it to me but still, I will have bought dozens of games like FFXIII before even considering getting Mass Effect. THAT is called taste. And you sir, like some very unwelcomed reviewers, are denying the right for other people to have different tastes, and this is unacceptable.

Lol, dont worry, that post was months ago. I was still upset with FF13 then. Now the dust has settled I appologise for my words. I'm dont care anymore because I think FF15 will be released and will be the greatest RPG of all time.

Your not the only one, I admit defeat because many of us crossed the line when talking about FF13. It didnt meet our expectations, but theres no need to insult each other over it.

I revived this thread, because a troll posted on my wall about this when I tried to end the conversation diplomatically. I'm calling him out to see if he still has the balls to say the same bullshit. So you dont need to respond to anything I say, my actions are not directed at you in anyway.

And honestly at the time, we were all riding on the FF13 hype. In all fairness Bioware have apparently fucked up the ending for the Mass Effect trilogy, so no game is perfect in this respect.

There is no such possibility Fal'cie A203D, don't use smoke & mirrors. FFXIII-3 will sell 0.75 of FFXIII-2.

For the record, I think FF13-3 could be FF 13 Versus.

I'm not saying I know that, but I think it could be. Even though it dosent seem logical, since both games are different gameplay based systems.

I'm just not sure how they can justify making FF13-3. If the FF12 team have moved onto FF15, then the FF13 team should've move onto FF16, or be preparing for a Wii U/next gen upgrade; surely they dont want FF16 to be released mid-way through the gen like FF13? It dosent really make sense to me. Unless they are working on the FF10 HD update.
