Forums - Sales - Surprised at NA/Other Wii numbers

Maybe 360 really is out of the war in 08.

Not necessarily, 2007 was the year of the PS3 price cuts, maybe 2008 will be the year of the 360 price cuts?

I think it depends on whether Microsoft is happy with letting the Wii keep the PS3 in check while trying to be profitable this gen or whether they want to
spend money in a pricewar to try to sink the PS3 (as MS views the PS3 as potential future competition to their Windows/Office monopolies).

PS3 will outsell 360 100k this week its good. But 360 is leading with 7m consoles and Microsoft can make price cut in 08.(Probably wont help in Japan/Others that much).

Microsoft has deep pocket, and has demonstrated a pretty staunch commitment to maintaining or increasing market share, even if over several generations.  As a result, I'm sure that they are going to slash prices left and right, pretty shortly now, if they want to stay in the game (which they obviously do).

Makes me glad I haven't bought a 360 just yet! ;)

Office? You think companies around the globe will begin to conduct their business via PS3?

No, but the strength of Microsoft's monopolies is their interdependance and their prevalence both at work and at home. As such, weakening the home front makes it easier to weaken the whole.

Lol @Rol: I live in the UK and over here the English are pissed off at being out of the Euro so they already talk about the World cup :D

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Let's not forget that these number include December 24th. So I'm not that surprised by some of the numbers. Target got a large Wii shipment on the 24th as I was at the store and saw about 40 stacked up. When I went by an hour later they were down to 4 left.

So next week will be the first true after Christmas week.
