Always blame the muslims, that's the easiest way. If you think about it, it could lead to invasions and more oil!!

The media is so controlled that it hurts
http://security.blogs.cnn.com/2011/07/22/qa-why-norway/?hpt=hp_t1

Media corporations that people believe are serious are only an outlet for the government to spread lies and brainwash their people. It's just so sad and I can't believe many people are too quick to jump on conclusions and blame muslims this fast.

Well, one group of extreme islamists did say they did it (they took that back later) and other groups have celebrated the attacks and expressed their full support, so there's a reason for people suspecting muslims.

There was no reason to do so at the time when that article was written. Everyone suspects muslims because the media tells you they are evil, and you swallow that without thinking for yourself.

I agree with what you say, and that article really jumped to conclusions. It's common practise to blame the muslims I guess. The extreme left among other groups have been responsible for more terror attacks in Europe than extreme muslims, yet most of us think of muslims whenever a bomb explodes.

In this case I'd say it wasn't unreasonable to suspect islamists at first, until the islamists withdraw their statement about being responsible. Most focus also was on the bomb against the government area in the beginning, so I guess many thought it was an attack against the Norwegian government for their involvement in Afghanistan. Later it became more apparent that the youth camp was the real target though.

Look, here's an example of what the media does.

That's pretty horrible.

The celebrating islamists I read about in the newspaper was expressing it on some forum (some jihadist named Abu Suleiman al Nasser was quoted), so they are not out on the street celebrating from what I know. I guess I made it sound way larger than what it was...

"Fascists seek to purge forces, ideas, and systems deemed to be the cause of decadence and degeneration"

Which side of the political spectrum does that fit?  (Hint: It ain't the leftie socialists!)

...

Actually, it does sound a lot like progressive ideology ... Or do you dispute that progressive individuals are highly critical of the (so-called) "Rich" and want to re-distribute their wealth (decadence), or even retain some level of support for eugenics as long you're aborting babies with genetic defects rather than killing adults with genetic defects (degeneration)?

This isn't to say that Fascism is the same as Socialism but, as we were all taught in school, Fascism was envisioned as a "Third Way" and has some elements of Socialism and Capitalism in its ideology. Furthermore, many founders of modern progressive thought were actually inspired (to a certain extent) by Fascist ideology as implemented in Italy and Germany prior to seeing the inevitable outcome.

Who?

Being that H.G. Wells is credited with being the father of progressive ideology, and also looked upon facism very favourably, I would say that he is probably the best example.

H.G. Wells?  Ok, if you say so...

News to me. (and EVERY progressive out there)

I should have added "in the last years" since I don't know about the situation before, but I'm tired and it's been a horrible day so...

According to Europol islamists were behind 1 attack in 2009 and 3 attacks in 2010. The extreme left was behind 40 attacks in 2009 and 45 attacks in 2010.

Statistics from 2009 (in Swedish; extremvänster=extreme left): http://www.dn.se/nyheter/varlden/islamistisk-terrorism-ovanlig-i-europa

Europol's report from 2011 (data from 2010): https://www.europol.europa.eu/sites/default/files/publications/te-sat2011_0.pdf

Edit: it seems like way more islamists has been arrested though...

So it wasn't a jihadist after all?

Shocking, though it would explain why they targeted a labour party youth camp specifically if they were of a right-wing persuasion

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Yeah i was at the job when the news broke. Fell asleep, woke up and saw the 80 number.

80?

Obviously, an event like this could have been prevented had Norway increased screening of native born 12 year old girls along with their grandparents.

Yeah, I'm sure increasing the screening of people of Middle Eastern descent would've prevented the blonde blue eyed Norwegian from commiting this. This event really shows why racial profiling is inherently flawed.
