Just bought a 360 and thus finally entered the HD era of gaming! Yay!

Everybody please say what you believe is the best JRPG on HD consoles and I'll choose the ones that get mentioned the most to further research and buy.

I've heard good things about Lost Odyssey. It's also a 360 exclusive, so I'll definitely buy it.

What about that Square Enix 360 exclusive, The Last Remnant? Any good?

Eternal sonata was damn good

The Last Remnant in my experience was actually quite a poorly contrived game. The underlying mechanics might be truly awesome, but they are quite inaccessible. I concede to being none the wiser as to what I was doing after going at it for eight hours then I was after playing for fifteen minutes. I am not a idiot I am quite adept at learning complex systems, but all I found myself doing was trial and error runs. Once that happens it stops being stimulating, and just devolves into a chore. I think I got to about hour ten before I accepted that I wasn't going to have any fun with this game. If you want to play this game firstly you should probably find a online primer.

I think the safest bets are Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, and Infinite Undiscovery. There aren't many major issues to be had with any of those titles. At least as far as playability goes. Your not going to have any problems grasping how to play. The stories are also decent there isn't a lot of convoluted story telling, or dropping into metaphysics in these games. Perhaps I am jaded, but a good story really matters in this genre.

Lost Odyssey is the best JRPG IMO, this generation. It's developed by the developer of Final Fantasy, and it really feels like a SNES era Final Fantasy title, brought to the modern world.

Second best is Valkyria Chronicles (PS3 exclusive). It has a hybrid gameplay mix between Fire Emblem and Advance Wars. However this is the best console strategy RPG I have played on an HD console. Not up to the level of quality of Fire Emblem, but more modern, and well fun.

I'm currently working on Tales of Vesperia, and it's really fun so far. Although the gameplay has a lot of action components, and the story starts slow, it's a treat.

Other games hmm.... I liked Infinite Undiscovery quite a bit, really engaging gameplay/story. I haven't played too much FFXIII yet, so I can't comment on that.

However I think Lost Osyssey should be your top priority. Tales of Vesperia second, and then consider Final Fantasy XIII, Star Ocean, or Infinite Undoscovery.

As for The Last Remnant, it's okay. The gameplay is very different then most JRPG's, which is good, but I named a few titles which are better.
