Approximately a week ago, I finally decided to add 6 games that weren't yet added.  I get my points for this, but am never even given the opportunity to add a release date or the box art as I wanted to.  Whoever accepted my submission decided to essentially "steal" those points for themselves.  So because they are a DB Admin, they just get to steal points that I should have gotten the opportunity to get, not them.  So sorry for being crude, but it is absolute bullshit that the people stealing points for something like that are the ones that get rewarded with higher ranks for "appreciating" the ranking system.

Just adding the release date and box art for those 6 games would have given me 54 more points, but instead, somebody who didn't even find the game themselves gets those 54 points.

I immediately lost most, if not all of my interest to add games to the website, because all that happens is I get 10 points, and some admin who "appreciates" the points system more gets a freebie 9 points.

I do not know who did that, but I can assure you that the GameDB admin who has done that didn't meant to "steal" points from you. The main point of being a GameDB admin is to help the site, not to gain points.

This is not allowed to happen any more. They will give all users at least 24 hours after approving to update the games. And it's not 'stealing points', since they do the work there, it's stealing the opportunity. But like I said, I stopped him doing this as soon as I was aware it was happening and made sure the other new Admins knew not to do this either. Cut him some slack though, he's new to the job and he didn't do it maliciously.

Sweet I guess I will continue adding stuff when I see it is needed afterall

@Seece: Sorry for targeting all Game DB Admins.  I didn't realize it was only one person (A new person, at that) doing it, and was throwing out my anger towards the whole group wrongfully

I like this rank progression better then mine actually.

I would be fine with Seece's as well.

Please entertain me as to what you think my "true agenda" is, I could go for a good chuckle.

Unless you say my true agenda is simply to make a system where as many people are happy as is possible, you are completely and totally wrong.  The systems I'm making have absolutely nothing to do with myself and my own ranking, if that is honestly what you were thinking (And LMFAO if it honestly is).

I could be level 2, and I would have nothing to complain about.  The only reason I was mad with the last change is because I was called a "rookie" (which, to be honest, would have changed in the not too near future anyways...only 1k points away, which shouldn't take too long now that I started doing database stuff ).

I never even expected any of my systems to be completely taken by one of you guys.  I was putting them out there, getting them critiqued, and then trying to come up with systems that seemed better.  It is the process of us (credit for this goes to Trucks) discussing this in the thread that got our maximum down to 500,000 instead of 1,000,000.  It also seems we have essentially decided on 15 levels instead of 10 or 20.  The more systems that get put out there, the more likely we are to come up with something that works well.

Looks good to me. Rank 11's 110,000 points looks a bit weird but I think the progression in pts required is more important than having nice even numbers anyway.

I think 110,000 works fine when you have that 55,000 in there too, however.  After all, it is simply double.

Seems like a better system than the current points system.  Right now I am only Rank 3 which seems kind of low.  With this system I would almost be rank 7.  Maybe once more people start getting closer to 1 million in a few years then you can add a 1 million rank.

That sounds good. I was thinking before that a exponential progression would be best, specially at the beginning. Also you want those contributors to have some progression and keep them entertained. And maybe still have the 1 million mark but as a special rank.

Forgot to put it in:

Rank 1 0 0
Rank 2 500 0.5k
Rank 3 1,000 0.5k
Rank 4 2,500 1.5k
Rank 5 5,000 2.5k

Rank 13 75,000 25k
Rank 14 100,000 25k
Rank 15 150,000

Rank 19 400,000 100k
Rank 20 500,000 100k
Rank S 1,000,000 500k

EDIT: Why did I waste my time posting this, if it would get ignored.
