The wait is justifiable. Part of that reason is why would they overlap big Final Fantasy titles over each other?
I hope this game will be worth the wait. I would like to see it release late 2012 or early 2013, the sooner the better.

I use GT5 as an example to agree with Ben: Regardless of how great the game is, it still gets hate because of how long it took to make.

This makes me think: how shitty must XIII-2 be when it only took them 2 years (or less) to develop. Must be a rushed messy compilation of XIII's unused assets and scrapped DLC.
Also, I have the impression vXIII will be the best FF in a long time. If that's the case, they should just call it FFXV.

I'm not even remotley just "hating on it" Final Fantasy is quite easily in my top 3 favorite franchises of all time and I've been waiting forever for Versus XIII.
Its quite easy to say why the wait isn't justifiable even if its excellent.
A) In the amount of time it will have taken SE to release Versus XIII other studios will have released 4-5 AAA scale games which will greatly outsell Versus XIII.
B) SE is bleeding money and massivley losing profits. Haveing games in development for 10 freaking years is obviously a huge contributor to that
C) Most gamers have moved on from the Versus XIII hype honestly. The only people who still even remeber the game exists are forum posters and hardcores.
D) Show me how many games which have become "Vaporware" due to such long development cycles EVER liveing up to the hype. They rarely, if ever do. Its simple to make a good AAA game it simply shouldn't take this long. Ever. It doesn't bode well for the development cycle and usually means trouble.
I'll be buying Versus XIII on day 1 but that doesn't change the fact its simply not worth that long of a wait. I'm not even hyped for it anymore and just hope it turns out good. SE went from being one of my favorite developers to not even being impressive this gen.
I have a feeling when you play the game, i'm sure people will know why its worth the wait. (unless they really screwed up in making it)
