I nearly drowned when I was like 8...

Fell off of some big plastic Hippo in the middle of the pool. Banged my head, knocked out and under the water.

Bleurgh.

i was very active in boy scouts so my childhood and worked at a scout camp during summers.  our "scout craft" area as well call it was basically a jungle gym made out of felled trees.  so one day while out logging with the other counslers the tree fell wrong way ... on me.  pretty big tree, certainly could have crushed me had luck not been on my side.

related fun fact: i was just in hawaii and several people told me (not that i verified this) but more people die to coconuts falling out of trees than shark attacks.  makes you think doesn't it...

i touched a live 400Volts 1200 Amps copper conductor once, while standing on a grounded metal walkway.

Next thing i knew was lying on my back with the apprentice, who gave me the faulty test bulb i checked with beforehand, staring in my face. While the other guy who had told me "he had switched everything off" was nowhere to be seen.

I checked my heart rate, it was normal, i got up and continued with my work. i was shaking a bit though, and couldn't touch copper conductors for a while after that.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
