Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is doing it wrong. (Xenoblade etc.)

While ive just read that Xenoblade will release in Europe earlier than Planned (mid. August), a thought crossed my mind:

'Sorry Xeno, but you still have to wait after i am done with Skyrim and Dark Souls'.

Okay, and now lets think about it; i, who is only into RPG's (except exceptions ;P), has 2 great games to play this holiday. hell, i am even tempted to buy MW3 or BF3 (depending on how they turn out to be, but even though i hate activision for beeing successful, i think i will probably end up playing MW3 because sooo many  friends (even the female's.. <.<) are getting it).. and if we throw Uncharted 3, Gears 3 and maaany more into that bottle, people might agree that the launch of Games like Xenoblade and Pandora's Tower later this year are just seriously dumb.

there are people who are more into those games, but there are MUCH more who prefer to play the games coming on their stronger Console first, like me. I will get all three games, Xenoblade, The Last Story and, if there will be a time where no good games are to be released, Pandora's Tower. But except The Last Story, those games just have to wait until the bigger ones are through.

So i think Nintendo of Europe is doing it wrong. first and foremost; There is way to much other stuff releasing later this year. And the second thing; August 15th/22th? really? WHY the friggn hell are you throwing a game out, that no one (except excessive internetz hardcore guys) knows about? WHy dont you give the Media 2-3 Months to publish the News about this game? they'll do eventually, but most people will learn about that game when its already out, which means the first/second/third-week-sales wont unleash their full potential.

So yeah, i think Nintendo of America isn't announcing those games YET (it would be F*cking STUPID not to do, and Ninty isnt Dumbco-Bandai.. yet) because they want to have a very small gap between announcement and Release (just like NoE), but in a timeframe where they dong ge clusterfucked by other title's.

... Just my two cents. =)

Very true. These will get pushed onto the back burner for myself as well if released during the holiday!

Okay, let's go with this logic a little bit further. Since Xenoblade is too irrelevant to stand a chance this year, because there are blockbusters released for the HD consoles, let's push it into next year. But wait, early next year will be the timeframe when the delayed HD blockbusters are going to be released, so let's push Xenoblade further back. Releasing it during summer might not be a good idea though, because by then people may still be catching up on the HD blockbusters they put on the backburner. Let's move Xenoblade to a fall release. But oh noes, that's when the next batch of HD games gets released, so that means 2013 is probably the right time for Nintendo's JRPG. And on and on and on.

Nintendo releasing games is NOT wrong, no matter what these games are. Their biggest problem have always been droughts and now you are suggesting that the Wii should have even less games. If you don't have the time or will to play Xenoblade Chronicles, then that's your problem. Doesn't mean other people should have to wait even longer for a game they want, only to fit your gaming schedule.

This^

Nintendo have their own eco-system, and should never accommodate entertainment on other platforms.

Except Pandora's tower, those wii games could have been out already. there would have been NO Problem to release at least one of them this month. Of course localization takes time, but look at square-enix. FFXIII was released not even 4 Months later in Europe and NA. where would have been the problem to release Xenoblade on May 2011, a year after the japanese release?

Nintendo has been lazy, and now they are scared of upcoming competition.

Oh and i think they could also throw them in Jan-Feb2012, even if there is competition, it isnt nearly as much as it will be this holiday season.

It's funny the way each people think. I'd be happy just to have the opportunity to buy an item. Release it ASAP, then I'll buy it whenever I can: close to launch, months past it or even years. Just make it available, I can't get it if it isn't.

exactly. It's not as if Nintendo games are known to sell exclusively during the first week, and then have sales taper off into oblivion...

Xenoblade released in June in Japan. The game releases August 19 in EU. So really just a year and 2 months, not that big of a difference from what you proposed (a year later). Who knows what NoA will do though. TLS is actually in 2012 though.

yupp but i think 2 months are making a difference here., this is just my opinion, but for me, the buy of Xeno is much more likely if i actually have the time to finish it before the other AAA titles come out.

@eco system;

And another wild guess of me; i think this fits many Wii Games, but i think people who are actually well informed about Xeno, and would like to buy this game, are actually those, who look at games that are coming for PS360 too. not everyone of course, but i think that people who intend to buy TLS/PT/XC do not have to be those who buy Just Dance 3 and dont care about what other systems do.

__

i dont say Xenoblade is doomed in europe because it has to compete with other games (even if its pretty likely that Europe wont be the place were this game sells like hot cake.. no matter the date)  but i think it will end up loosing at least 'some' momentum because of the other Blockbuster titles. (People interrested in it will get it sooner or .. later.. i guess, but for the games industry, sooner is always better.)

absolutely! its not that i am unhappy with those games beeing released, definetly not. i am also looking forward to play them!

but my guess is just that Nintendo could have been doing better with dates, and thats why i think NoA is holding back.

@Rol;

exactly, beeing released so close to the holiday season, Xeno is a title that has to wait a bit because of that. (for me)

But if only 5% of the people in europe who intend to buy it think and buy the way i do, it's (sadly) a loss. And if we look at RPG's without a big, established name behind it (FF), they arent doing stunningly well in europe, and thats why i would want to sell those games as well as possible over here.

edit @ beeing scared of competition;

it sucks not to be a native english speaker.. <.<.. i mean its just my guess that NoA might be scared because theyve missed the opportunity to publish them earlier.

(OT; it could have been so nice to show them at E3^^..)

Then a good start would be to buy Xenoblade Chronicles on launch day, even though you will keep it wrapped up for a couple of months.

would be an idea, but there is still much stuff to be bought that isnt related to gaming, sadly. (and i am still pretty new to this 'living on your own' thing xD.. so i am a bit cautious) i could buy Xenoblade of course, but i'd like to have some money left over for .. dunno.. emergencies? xD so i'll stick to furniture, Dark Souls, Skyward Sword and Skyrim (and, to be honest, most likely a 3ds.. <.< xD) for this year. (leave alone that i still have to play Monster Hunter Tri, WKC2, and recently bought PSN Games)
