I've noticed that the people who say that he needs a break don't play Mario games but the people who say no do....
I think this says that there is a certain magic that Mario has that the people who play them can't quite get enough of, and the people that don't play have no right to judge and say there should be less Mario games.....

I found ALL of it on the internet. Nintendo doesn't only rely on Mario they've made a ton of new IP the last few years, spin-offs aren't the same as mainline games, stop trying defend the FF spin-offs but bitch about the mario ones.

I'm done.

Mario should have taken a break about 20 years ago. Mario shouldn't have been used for SMB2, Kart or the 3D games. All of them could have stood on their own as new IPs.

Agreed. I think Nintendo should atleast try to make 1 new IP that does not include Mario.  :)

Nintendo have made quite a few new IPs this generation that don't include Mario, I'm not sure what you're on about.  These are just off the top of my head:

Disaster DoC

Xenoblade

Soma Bringer

Wii ...

Style Boutique/Style Savvy

Fossil Fighters

Brain Training/Brain Age

Big Brain Academy

Nintendogs

Electroplankton

English Training

Jam with the Band/Daigasso

Captain Rainbow

and I'm only including those developed by 1st or 2nd parties.  If we were to include all those published by Nintendo, the list would swell considerably to include games such as:

Marionation Gear

Pandora's Tower

Jump Ultimate Stars

Zangeki no Reinglev

Master of Illusion

Endless Ocean

Another Code/Trace Memory

Touch Golf/True Swing Golf

Hotel Dusk/Last Window

Oueden/Elite Beat Agents

The Last Story

ASH

Probably loads more I've forgotten

Before you the next time you make wild statements, you should probably read up on what Nintendo have actually done this generation.

This thread should be more about making new IPs like he said in the original post than about putting Mario in time out. There is no reason to slow down games for your biggest money maker, but a lot of people would certainly approve of new IPs. Wake up Nintendo and bring us some new shit.

Read my previous post, Nintendo have made quite a few new IPs this generation.

I don't think Nintendo should make more new IPs.  I actually wouldn't mind them making less.  Instead, they should invest more money, effort and marketing into each new IP that they do create.  Nintendo needs a new high profile, so called 'hardcore', IP, which they don't have (the closest is The Last Story).  Instead, they have many low profile IPs and some high profile, so called 'casual' IPs, such as Nintendogs and Brain Training.

Nintendo need the eqivelent of an Uncharted, not just more new IPs in general.

I am espeacially interrested on Learn Ingles.

I may be wrong since I probably pay less attention to Nintendo than you, but isn't Xenoblade and the last story only coming out in Japan and EMEAA? I think Nintendo needs more bloody mature rated games mostly, it does not have to be a shooter like Uncharted. Also I don't like the word hardcore because it's meaning is so subjective that trying to use it brings out too many different interpretations from people.

No at all!, mario game are always good (If they come from nintendo of course, no SE)
Mario galaxy showed that nintendo quality is pearless... and mario3ds is on its way... Cannt wait!!!

The Last Story and Xenoblade are so far only released in Japan and are both announced for PAL releases (Xenoblade is coming out here in Europe on the 2nd of September).  For The Last Story, I am certain that a US release will come in 2012, it just hasn't been announced yet.  As for Xenoblade, it's far less likely to come over to the US, but I wouldn't rule it out.

The point I was trying to make is that Nintendo has lots of new IPs, but they do not have a high profile, very commercially successfull new IP aimed at the  'mature'/'traditional'/'hardcore'/'non casual'/whatever (I dilike a lot of those terms as well) audience, in the way that MS has Gears of War and Sony has Uncharted.  They have new IPs that appeal to that audience, such as Pandora's Tower, Soma Bringer or Xenoblade, but these are low, or maybe at a push medium profile and don't sell that many copies.  As I said earlier, the closest I can think of is The Last Story.  Equally, they have new IPs such as Wii..., Nintendogs and Brain Training/Brain Age, which are among the best selling games of all time, but they largely appeal to a different audience.

I think that this is the reason that many people believe that Nintendo don't make or publish any new IPs, when in fact they do.  It's just that they haven't heard of or dismiss most of them.  Nintendo next generation would need IMO a new IP that is like Uncharted or Gears of War, not necessarily in genre, but in the fact that they are high profile, both very critically and commercially successful and appeal to gamers outside the expanded audience.

He just came off an 18-year long break. How much slack do you want to cut the guy?
