Flingsmash was a new IP, this is a sequel to a game that sold millions. How could you have known it would bomb and bomb this hard? Hell, for all we know it could still inch toward 5mil. But i agree they need to stop these lazy efforts, so maybe bombing is a good thing???

Anyway, of course 360 is down YOY due to slim. Ps3 heavily down too. Wii price cut effect over egged here IMO. Price cuts for HD urgently required. And I fully expect 360 gap with ps3 and Wii will be quite different come NPD.

Just saying.


360 has taken the UK back! Number 1 system for the week. Microsoft really need to start advertising in the smaller markets but I agree that a price cut is needed. I think we might get one come the Gears 3 launch, it will be an ideal time as I think that game can move a few systems.

Well there are a few 3D channels out there, they could atleast put adverts made specifically for those out. But you are right, the required infrastructure just isn't there to effectively advertise it but if it were then its USP wouldn't exist either so they kind of shot themselves in the foot a little bit there din't they.


It requires imagination to build a great tv ad that really showcases it's 3D ability. Having things 'pop out' of the screen, and someone fitting their head inside the 3D screen to view a wide open view. @oinyide So you expect Nintendo to forever use the DS design? You lack imagination if you think there is no way to redesign it. Sliding instead of opening. One could also redesign it so when closed the 3D screen is protected. Nintendo has great minds that work with them, I'm sure they could think of an awesome design for it. Because like many before, my own family thinks its a DS with 3D at a higher 250 price tag.

thats the problem right there, things do not pop off the screen, its not the movies, its not that kind of 3d, if they advertise it like that, it would be lying. and yes i have played 3DS for myself. Your redesign ideas sound cool though, but even more expensive.

Well not the exact pop up effect you will see in movies but it is capable of showing off things going off screen like the air from Pilotwings. But if they could obviously show that. They could also advertise in 3D movies.

I downloaded InFamous because it was free but to be honest, I don't think I will ever get the chance to play it. I am catching up with my 360 back catalogue of games and already have Gears 3, Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3 pre-ordered and come October I'll be going to South Africa for a month.

It seemed pretty straightforward to me.  Wii Play did well only because it offered a spare controller during the peak time of Wii popularity.  People didn't buy Wii Play for the game, they bought it for the controller.  Flingsmash bombed pretty hard and it is now in the discount bins at many retailers-- I saw it for $20 a couple weaks ago.  As we already established, people aren't buying Wii Play for the game-- the game was terrible.  So if they are only buying for the controller, then Nintendo has to compete with its own discounted Flingsmash bundle.  Also the demand for the Wii is low right now.  This should be a good lesson to Nintendo to stop these cheap cash-ins and develop some good games.

lets not lose our sense of humour guys,i thought it was quite a witty post from bhr and its just a bit of fun the long running feuds, well it keeps me entertained anyway

not sure infamous 2 will have that many downloads i'd be surprised if it was more than 5000 but maybe i'm way off,i'm more dissapoint with 150,000 in the whole others,its just not that popular,still i didn't buy infamous until it was £20 and will do the same with the 2nd

i see the 3ds ads in the uk and think they are alot better ads now in explaining everything,quite a few wii ads too,nintendo back on top in the charts,Zumba coming on strong

Im not comparing "the bombs". I just said that the Wii Motion Play bomb reminded me the Playstation Move Heroes bomb. Nothing more. :(
