Iwata has my vote.

Looking at the history of both, I would take Earthbound (Iwata as a programmer) over ICO (Ueda) anyday of the week, anytime of the day, and any year from here onto the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

ICO was a fetish, niche game on the level of burlesque, while Earthbound was a Mark Twain satire on 1990s US culture. You can't compare an amateur, soft core porn show to a defining masterpiece in video gaming.
