Forums - General - Really sad story!

So I was looking at my local news for British Columbia when I saw a real heart wrenching story.

A group of people went to visit their friend, when they did so they found the women decomposing in her trailer. What makes matters way worse is that the women had a daughter with Downsyndrome and the daughter was with her mother. It turns out that the women had been dead over a week and the daughter had desperatly tried to wake her up, trying to feed her food and medicine. The girl's hearing aid had also died leaving her essentially deaf. She spent the whole week trying to revive her decomposing mother.

Now the article goes on to talk about how the Government knew the girl was in trouble. Apparently their had been four complaints issued about the house hold. Not only that but the Government cut the women's welfare check leaving the women and her down syndrom daughter with no income.

The article talks about how the dad left and eventually commited suicide in the US. The women was an alchoholic and lost her car in an accident. She couldn't afford a new one so she lost her job.

Anyways all those facts aside I find it hard to compose myself. that poor girl didn't realize her mom had died. Can you imagine how hard that week must have been for her?

This is the saddest story I've read in awhile.

Reminds me of the UK "Baby P" media firestorm.

All because government agencies wouldn't talk to each other or actually notice obvious neglect when they visited them.

Can't imagine how awful that one week must have been.

Seeing your mother die and the trying to save her for a whole week while the world had no clue. The girl may have thought maybe her mother was dead but we never want to accept something like that....trying to wake her up and seeing no response...none of us can imagine the kind of mental pressure the girl must have had in the week.

And then her head aid not working in the meanwhile too and her difficulties with taking care of herself too.

Very very sad story :(

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Extremely sad for the kid. She didn't choose to have such pathetic parents.

very sad indeed. Is the girl in better care now? Thats is such a harsh story.

That is terrible. I feel so bad for that young girl.

Got a retro room? Post it here!

So sad to see people suffer because their parents are horrible. :(

That's possibly the saddest thing I've ever read.

Sad story? I'll give you a sad story....

Christian Choate was a boy who was tortured and beaten his whole life by his abusive father and step mother. He recently died at the age of 13 after being forced to live in a cage for a year.

He was taken out of school to be home schooled by his step mother. She told him to write. The writing revealed a truly depressed child who wanted to die and constantly worried about why his family didn't like him.
