Well who knows a lot can change in ten years, it is not unbeleaveble that we probably can buy tv's with services as Onlive included (in ten years) and that we can download games from a store or even stream it all we then basically need is probably an Apple Controller and account and then you can play everywhere....Going to your grandparents don't need to take a console with you because they probably will have an tv like that aswell..Just log in and play your games..

Console gaming can be a lot smaller in ten years from now.

You fail to realize that console gaming has evolved and will continue to evolve. Having downloadable games and cloud saves is just the first step. The PS3, 360 and Wii(to a lesser extent) are all very good multimedia devices and the Wii U seems to greatly improve upon that. Sony is already pushing for further handheld to system integration with the PS Vita and PS3 and I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo pushes it as well with 3DS and Wii U. I do not have a clue what MS will do, but they certainly can help keep Apple from rising as well.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

Around the Network

This is the same bs argument used for the smartphones vs handheld consoles thing, except now they're just picking out gaming consoles as a whole. And my argument remains the same.. There will always be a market for the bigger budget games, because there will always be a DESIRE to play the bigger budget games. Micro games like Angry Birds are fun and all, but they are generally meant for brief time killers while riding the train or something. People are always going to want deeper, richer experiences, games that provide several hours, if not days, of entertainment. These two types of games are so radically different, provide a different need, and cater to a different market, so they really shouldn't even be compared in the first place.

Not really, you are saying it yourself they are becoming multimedia devices some call it not simple consoles anymore..

Console gaming is dying. Not because of Ipad or anything like that though, because it becomes more and more like PC. About 10 years from now consoles and computers will be the exact same thing again, more or less. This of course does not mean they will be gone, just means that Playstation, Xbox etc, will be seen as computers and not as gaming consoles.

So whats the difference? Well today PCs are the the most advanced platform, but also the one where least games are sold (cause of piracy). In the future they will all be as advanced as you want them to be. You will be able to use them for anything you can do with a PC today even pay bills. As for games most will be online games. And the DRM is gonna be 10 times worse than todays games and every game will be 100% digital. You probably need to be signed to a server to even access the games (even single player)for starters.
