Forums - Gaming - It is true, you can always bet on the Duke.

Been playing it for around 2 hours or so now on PS3 and I have yet to experience this horrible framerate I have read about or have yet to experience a game worthy of a 0/10 score.

I admit the graphics aren't spectacular but the game is still pretty fun from what I have experience thus far. I whooped the alien spaceships ass and just did a fairly long section where I was mini-duke driving in an RC car.

I rented the game from Redbox and before that I rented Black Ops.

In terms of Single player gaming I am actually enjoying Duke much more.

Anyone else actually enjoying the hell out of this title?

Reviews were mostly based on the 360 version, which is apparently significantly worse than the PS3 version which is significantly worse than the PC version. Regarding the frame-rate, the 360 version runs at an unlocked 30 FPS, which means that it can basically drop to 15 and then jump back up to 28 and then drop back down to 17 at any random moment. The PS3 version runs at a locked 30 FPS, that's why your experience seems to differ from the reviews.

It's another case of 'Western Media Bias' when it comes to choosing a main platform to review a game on, the PS3 version is usually overlooked, even when it is a significantly better game and it seems to be happening much more as of recently.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

im near the end and its just like all the other shooters not worse not better give it about a 6.8 I think thats alot fairer than what its getting

Even though I haven't played the game, I don't see how a game can get a 0/10, no game should get an actual 0/10 unless it's not even playable or it explodes spontaneously or something.

I think I am up to the same point that you are.  And I agree I am enjoying the hell out of this game.  Its not the greatest game ever made,  but its fun to play.  The reviews I have seen for it are downright disgusting.  This game deservers no less than 6, but no more than a 7.5 either.

yea i have fun playing it even the achievements are fun , the xbox version is ok the only better version is the PC version .
people get offended with the game maybe they got rape be aliens or the joke about halo piss some fanboys or the "Need a Date" achievement push some peoples buttons .

The thing is that currently DNF has the same overall score of games that are full of glitches or have screw AI stuff that make games unplayable and thats not the case at all with duke nukem forever .
Duke Nukem Forever is a revived 2005 game that was for many a game that really needed to be resealed , the game is not top notch but is more fun than many shooters this days .

I don't have the game but I always thought the reviews were somewhat unfair(specially the 0/10) I think some reviewers just jumped on the bandwagon(like GTA 4 and MW2) and just gave it whatever other reviewers were giving it.

Unfortunetly my TV is dead and getting repaired, but I went over to a friends and played like 20 minutes. I gotta say the game really felt like it was back in the 90's. Though thats not nescarilly a bad thing, I don't like having to go in one direction with nothing to explore. I was irritated that all the doors in the building are locked except for the one your supposed to go through. It seemed to Linear when compared to games built now where you can at least look in some of the room's bigger level enviroments and such.

But again I only played 20 minutes. In my opinion no game deserves a 0/10. The worst game I can think of Sonic and the Secret Ring I'd give a .5/10. But no game I have ever played deserved a zero. Though I have heard Super Man 64 and Bubsy 3D truly did deserve a rating that low. But those games were unplayable due to glitches and stuff.

Duke is fully playable , I ran into no glitches and the gameplay seemed enjoyable. I lent it to a friend while my TV gets fixed and he said he's enjoying it. So all in all I can't see why some reviewers have been so harsh with their reviews!

LOL, you really think the whiny baby western reviewers were butthurt by Duke's dig on Master Chief?

You do know that level design for FPS shooter have been getting simpler and more linear for years right? Duke Forever's level design actually mimic modern day games. Go back to the original Duke 3D and you will find a long and fulfilling game that actually reward you for exploring.
