fixed i added some context... i personally don't understand how some people expect people who've owned HD consoles to be impressed with a visual showing that is just on par or slightly ( from what we've seen ) better than what they've been seeing on the consoles they already own.

the only thing that nintendo has shown so far to truly differentiate the wii u is of course the tablet controller and while some of the capabilities they've shown are interesting ( like accessing an inventory from the tablet ) the overall presentation was lacking... then theres also the fact that the wii u as a games platform unlike the wii isn't completely unique :

so far people are imo justified in being skeptical

lets get something straight here, how much does an ipad2 cost? how much does apple air tv cost? how good does that real racing 2 look to you? how do I use wifi on the ipad2 when it's playing that thing? coocoo for coco puffs yo.

yes even though the price hasn't been announced for wii u we can be fairly certain that the ipad, air tv etc will be a more costly solution... that is if you hadn't already owned an ipad... but the point i was going for is that the wii at that period in time was completely unique but the wii u to the average consumer is going to seem very similar to tablets already on the market especially since they are getting streaming features now then theres the added advantage of being able to carry tablets anywhere with you

You are asking that every house hold to have a reciever type device in which first, they'd need to all have the tablet that comes with a reciever device, second, to be all compatible with each other, third, to up the cost of the overall due to that, that's not how computing works. And if my handheld has only a multi-touch screen, I'll murder somebody, because that's definitely no the best gaming solution at all. Oh, and local multi-player would require four 600 dollar tablets or more, in which I ask, "huh?"

1.  In its essence, I agree, however in the context of console gaming it's very original.

2.  Well, the Wii U controller won't be anywhere near as expensive as an iPad or similar tablet (I'm guessing $99 or less), and as confirmed by Reggie, the console can indeed support more than one controller for at least some types of games.  Something like COD may not work, as the system might not be capable of streaming something like that to three independent screens flawlessly, but just using an extra controller as you would for Tekken or having simple things streamed like play-calling, etc for Madden shouldn't be a problem.

sure as hell won't be 600 dollars per controller =P and of course the Wii U isn't original, it's like a bigger DS with a second screen that you can move lol, and I've been using my phone as a remote on my PC for awhile now with remote desktop. Motion control wasn't new either when the Wii came out, but the question is really can they pack all the features they want into the sku at a good price for the masses and have good advertisement and games, and that's where the business is at.

agreed we'll have to wait and see what happens but it was occuring to me that games like metroid  would really benefit from the tablet like in situations where you have to scan and analyse the environment the same can be said for arkham asylum which i think is going to be a launch title for it, it would be really cool if rocksteady allowed gamers to use the tablet to manipulate batman's gear and also for detective mode
