I'm sure the duke fans are happy, well not with the reviews anyway.

I quoted a big Duke fan.  What I saw also on forum posts regarding the changes, is a revolt over the design changes to the game.  So, I am not sure about that either now.

Oh damn that sucks how they're dealing with a game series they love being changed so dramatically then.

It very much had a decent number of changed to it, which looks like it got it away from the classic style of health packs and also carry a wide range of weapons on you, and linear level design.  It is because of this, I am curious who would like it.

The hardcore Duke fan I know was fragging the game over it, but thought the graphics were good, and commended that the game didn't crash on his PC.

Strange how they made the game so different, why change something that's not broken?

They added in modern gameplay elements but kept the shooting mechanics fairly old-school. Basically, the only people that will like this are people who enjoy both the old-school and modern linear style FPS'. There's good fun to be had in the game though I don't know anyone who'd put it forward as a game of the year candidate. The graphics are also pretty dated. The recommended PC specs are for 5 yr old hardware. Had it come out at the beginning of the gen I think people would appreciate it more, but there's just so much more competition in the FPS genre now.

The graphics are fine, and there are some fun interactivity moments in there (I miss that about modern FPS games). Also, the game doesn't take itself too seriously, and has a sense of humor (albeit a juvenile one).

The elements I don't like are the platform moments and the puzzle moments. This isn't Half-Life here, this is Duke Nukem. Also, carrying 2 items only is lame.

On the whole though, the game is not as bad as the critics say... though far from the best.

My close circle of friends have been enjoying it, quite a bit really. One did say there is problems with the game but very few games don't.

I like the game. Definitely not a GOTY contender, but I doubt Gearbox or 3D Realms was actually aiming for that. And some of these low scores its been getting are completely biased. Its almost like GT5 where people had built up there own idea of what the game should be, but because it isn't exactly like their vision, they bash it. I mean how can you give a game that is actually playable, without tons of glitches or game crashing bugs, a 20? As far as graphics go, they are not the best, but they are definitely not the worst I've seen. And while i would have prefered they not "modernize" the health and weapon limit, it doesn't destroy the game for me. Personally, with what I've played so far, I'd give it a 6 or 7.

I enjoyed the game. Not a great game by any standards, but still fun. Only wish the online wasn't so broken haha... every time I find a match, I immediately lose connection to the host. Needs to have a matchmaking system.

I mean I understand the complaints about the game, but I think a lot of people are taking scenarios way to serious with it. It's meant to be a fun game and that's really it. And it accomplishes that. It's fun. Not all games can be masterpieces, works of art, or technical perfection, so just aiming for fun is a good idea for a lot of games. I think Gearbox and 3D Realms did a fantastic job of making a fun shooting game. And it doesn't hurt that Duke Nukem was in it haha.

While I enjoyed what I played of DNF, it is not worth 60 bucks... 39.99? maybe... 19.99, abso-freekin-lutely.

Old-School PC FPS fans, I guess?

I'm finding I like any game I play. Either that or the fact that any game I start I must beat so I fool myself into thinking I like it because it would be absurd to keep playing a game I don't like.

So I would probably like it I think or maybe yes.
