SON¥ might be paying Namco Bandai to keep Dark Souls PS3 exclusive in Japan. Imagine that!

Never played this series, nor do I know what it is about. The question for me is:

Is there a serious demand for this type of game in the Xbox fan-base?

Funny that they would invest in this game, when it's not exactly a big seller in the West. I mean don't get me wrong, I loved the game, but just seems like a waste of money for something that ultimately sold pretty poorly.

Thing is who cares? ps3 owners have an opportunity to get tales of graces and xillia and they wont come to 360. those fans complain to much if you wanna play vesperia in English get a 360. tales fans who only own a 360 will have to get a ps3 to play graces next year.

except that would be useless since:

1. It doesn't matter if dark soul is multiplatform in japan 90% will be buying it for ps3.

2. If sony wanted a dark soul game exclusively on ps3 they can just make demon souls 2 cause they own the IP  so why pay namco  for exclusivity in 1 region if they can make their own demon souls EXCLUSIVELY ON PS3 world wide?

I don't know.. all I know now is that the premium game release is kinda valuable now and so too is the european normal release..plus you can also purchase the game online via the marketplace and download it to the 360 hard drive..  Even so  I thought everyone knew MS paid for this many years ago...

I would say it is underhanded, especially compared to something like Heavy Rain.

When Sony or Microsoft publishes a title, you know from the get go that that title will be permanently exclusive to their platform.  When they simply toss some money a company's way behind the scenes, it leaves people interested in that game guessing as to what platforms it will REALLY come out on, and when it might be hitting those platforms.

Also, in Heavy Rain's case it was a new IP with no real following pre-release.  In the case of Tales, you have a situation where any Tales fan now has to own multiple consoles to keep up with the franchise, DESPITE each game having been developed for multiple consoles.  The Japanese Tales fan is the only fan that can get all three games on one console, and even then that's only if they passed on the games when they were first released.

All three games should've been released on all three platforms, or at the very least all on one platform.  Not doing so is very underhanded, as all it does is screw the fanbase in order to help each console manufacturer.

Namco should do what's best for them financially, but having said that as a PS3 owner I feel like I have been shafted by them this gen. I wanted to purchase ace combat and tales of vesperia and was denied.
They also gave us a poor Tekken game and at this point I don't feel the need or desire to purchase any of their existing or upcoming games.

I'm confident there are many other gamers that are in the same situation. It seems like Namco Bandai are coming to their senses but for me it's a case of just a little too late.
