I really wish Sony and / or Microsoft had cut price at E3 2011 - X360 / PS3 could conceivably drop below 100,000 / week fairly soon. We basically know there are no price cuts in June, July or early August since the cuts tend to leak out one-two months early (Wii cut leaked in April).

The 360 Slim rebundle of E3 2010 was not known (only speculated) until that E3. Also The last PS3 price cut and Slim model came all of a sudden.

If Ms wants to be the best selling system in its fisical year, and both MS and Sony want 15 million units sold, they need a price cut. I really think it will happen considering Wii got one.

No, it didn't

So you knew about the PS3 Slim in August 2009? How? The PS3 Slim came with minimal notice, I personally saw it on a store shelf before hearing about it online.

There had been strong rumors and even pics of a supposed prototype for months before its release.

I honestly never saw those screens prior to PS3 Slims release. To me it was just a rumor, equivalent to rumors about 360 releasing a Slim console in E3 2010, and equivalent to rumors of a price cut this fall.

The original quote post says price cuts are leaked a month or two in advance, but I don't think we can say for certain that PS360 won't get price cuts in July. Realistically MS wants to announce a price cut with the launch of Gears of War 3, or just a little sooner. September is a better time to announce a price cut, you get more return (sales), and it attacts attention for the rest of the fall.

It may become adjusted up slightly to match 360's 3% fall.

or it may be an adjusted figure, where last week hardware is higher then it should be.

or, maybe the PSN outage had a delayed affect to sales? Possible since most new console buyers are not full out gaming nuts, and may have only recently heard about the PSN outage.

or maybe people were disappointed with PS3's E3 showing......hahahaha, nah i'm joking.

PS3 is UP 18% this week in Americas .

I also noticed this, but I've been away from a computer for a while.

So either past VGC data needs to be adjusted up, maybe just last week, or there was some sort of sale in Americas. Maybe a delayed boost from InFamous 2/E3, but why didn't EMEAA see the same boost? They still hear about new games at E3, and they got InFamous 2.

Thoughts?
