The 1st trailer at E3 2010

Initial reactions seemed kind of mixed. The artwork style was like Wind Waker all over again. People were hoping for the Twilight Princess-esque artstlye. That combined with the mishap on stage for Skyward Sword made many skeptical. The 3DS announcement may also be partly to blame for overshadowing the announcement.....

Now we have the GDC trailer:

People were a little happier after getting more detail and a better idea of what the game would be like and how it would play out. There was still skepticism and concern if this would turn out as fantastic as past Zeldas.

Now we have E3 2011:

People's opinions as a whole has been quiet, but I personally see the game seeming better and better than before.

Basically:

E3 2010: :/

GDC 2011: :)

E3 2011: :D

What are your thoughts?

Around the Network

Yeah, that's more or less how my perceptions ran. E3 last year showed the promise of the game's controls, but showed the graphical style in a bad light (the environments moreso than the characters), GDC showed the environments were more dynamic and that the style could look better, and that there were a wide variety of enemies to fight, but still nothing that really stood out compared to Twilight Princess

But what we've been given now. Well.

:D

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Pretty much as you described them. The more I see and here, the better I think it will be.

November will be a LOOONG wait...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

the trailers don't look that different to me to be honest. I liked all 3.

I only want to play this game to see how the motion controls work. I am hoping that Zelda: SS sets a precedent that other game developers can copy. I am still eagerly awaiting a samurai online game for Wii U that features multiplayer sword battling, archery, and ancient warfare tactics using motion controls.

Most anticipated games of 2011:

Uncharted 3,Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Rocksmith

Modern Warfare 3, Super Mario 3D

I liked it back than and I like it now, just a bit more :D

And the artstyle is more a mix between WW and TP...

Around the Network

I think the art style looks great. I just find Link's animations to be a little more clumsy than I'd like. Obviously it's a challenge to stylishly animate a sword arm that's controlled 1:1, but I'm an animation whore, so it bugs me anyway. Also, Link's legs seem like they should be moving more considering how quickly he dances around an enemy.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

The only thing I was certain of when I first saw the reveal, was that I loved the art style.

Recently, these vids have confirmed that at least half of my prayers have been answered; engaging action packed battles that requires actual skill.

I'm still holding onto some skeptisism though, TP was so tedious by the end I didn't even get through it.

It basically went from, "not bad," "little better," to "ballz, I want this really bad." I mean, the music from the E3 2011 trailer even sounds better now that it's fully orchestrated.

My impressions have changed for the better and now it's one of my most wanted.
I didn't quite like the aesthetics when it was announced but they grew on me. The no IR thing got me more interested and I'm hoping for this game to be a joy to play, gameplay wise.
Let's just cross our fingers.

I like the second trailer the best, with the hidden track and all.

Can't wait for August :)
