Forums - Nintendo - The Wii is an awesome console!!

Back in 2007, I grabbed a Wii and was introduced to the fabulous world of motion controls.  It was pretty awesome.  Somewhere along the way, I became jaded.  Between the kinds of games I wished would be on the Wii and the kind of graphics I expected from this generation, I started to dislike the console.  At one point, I gave up on it and unplugged it.

Well, tonight I fired the Wii up for the first time in a long time.  It started with a little Wii Play.  Then it went to a little Wario Ware.  Finally, we played a little Super Mario Galaxy.  I approached the console without the expectations I had unfairly placed on it back in 2007-2010 and just took it for what it was.  The Wii U is on the horizon and I was no longer looking for the Wii game that would "Give me the HD experience" (like how Deadly Creatures and Conduit failed to do) or the Wii game that would "make traditional controller feel obsolete" (like how Metroid and RE Wii tried to do).  I accepted that what we have is what it is.  I just played with the Wii.  And I had a damn good time.

How about a little Wii appreciation up in here!?

have you downloaded Chrono Trigger yet?

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

I've undoubtedly played the Wii more than any other console. I still play GoldenEye nearly every day, so yeah it's awesome.

Though don't you wish they included previous Bonds as playable characters in addition to the villains?

Of course.  I'd like to put a part in Brosnan's hair if you know what I mean.

I'm not sure I want to know...

Ahh the memories! The Wii was the first console I ever camped outside to get. It was cold and rainy but it was worth it! In the morning when I finely got my hands on the Wii I hurried home to play for a few min and then sleep for a bit. I played a bit of Wii sports and of course I had bought Zelda! I felt like a kid again!

For me what I expected from the console and games were there except for the 1 to 1 controls which was disappointing but I thought it was the programming even though it was very close 1 to 1 in baseball.

Anywho the games on it have been amazing! Zelda, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Metroid Prime 3, NSMBWii, SSBB, Wario Ware, DKCR, Golden Eye and more have all been great fun with friends, family and alone.

And there is more on the way and games I have yet to buy and play. Can’t wait for Zelda SS!
All in all the Wii has been a great console for me and I love it and it will have a spot next to its little big brother Wii U!

The little white box that could beat the crap out of the other two single handedly and changed the way we play games :D

I planned to but there's supposed to be a PSN version coming out.  I'm not sure when, though.  I want to put it on my PSP so I can play it at work and if I get the Wii version, I  won't have the motivation to play it on the go, anymore.

It's an excellent secondary console with great exclusive content on it.

It would be boring if the Wii was just another platform to get the multiplatform games I can buy on PC or if I chose to: Xbox 360/PS3. That's what I enjoyed the most about it. The best games on the platform are unique and made specifically for it. While it isn't very good as a standalone experience, unless you have absolutely no interest in games found on other platforms, it proves itself with pretty awesome exclusives. It is my favorite console because of this. It provides an experience I cannot get on PC while the other consoles try to mimic the PC experience. Although they have a few exclusives as well.

I enjoyed my wii a lot, only thing left is a true zelda game, and it might be on par with my other top 5 consoles. Sony PS3 is also another console I enjoyed a lot (only problem is lack of niche JRPGs, that use to be found on the PS1, niche JRPGs that actually aren't by NIS or GUST).

My top 5 (Neither Wii or Ps3 actually are in the list, just yet):
SNES
DS
PS1
N64
PS2
