You will get the additional maps.

If you pay for them.

Sadly this is what this gen has become.

Yeap. In fact I am pretty sure MS will charge $15 for more maps down the road making this close to a $60 title as possible once all the DLC is involved,

I would honestly not be bothering by any of this if they just made the original multiplayer an option, either via reach by disabiling all armor abilities and tweaking the settings/stats of weapons, or by having a stand alone multiplayer experience. But it seems they want to do neither because in Reach "classic" gameplay still has Reach's weapon propertys and you can still sprint.

As far as a map/forge feature it would be very nice but that would take some effort to do. I just hope they throw in the replay/theater feature into the mix.

You can't Sprint in Classic. Also not all of the Halo 1 maps are in Classic as some are from Halo 2. I guess the maps not yet in Reach's Classic mode will come with the remake.

I don't even think those maps are for the remake, but I thought they were going to be for Reach kinda like ODST's multiplayer disc. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I thought it was.

Personally, the original is a classic, and only charging me $40 to have it completely remastered, more maps for Reach, and co-op online is pretty nice to me. Will pick this up day 1 along with AC: Revelations.

Its not a full priced game its only $40

They are using the 7 most popular maps from CE since adding all of them wouldn't really be worth it as many maps simply wouldn't get played.

The entire original campaign is there, ZERO of it is missing and updated in HD Graphics Glory.

I got 3 pre-order of the game within the first hour of it being up.

In other words, in no way is this going to be "fail"

Yea people are forgetting that this is only $40.  Simply selling the original Halo game completely remastered in HD/Reach engine with co-op Xlive is worth more than most new games that come out at $60.  Don't see what the complaint is haha.

well worth the $40 price tag, will get this game on launch day and i know alot of my friends that are doing the same.

I've got no problem with it. Frank seems to be very confident in saying that it would play very differently than the original if they tried to do it, and if that's the case, what's the point really? Besides, a large majority of these maps have already been remade in other games. Just gimme Prisoner and Boarding Action and I'll be a happy camper. I'm much more interested in the campaign than I am in Halo 1 maps anyway.

To be able to go back and play the Halo 1 campaign in 4 player co-op online is all I really want.

Unfortunately my worst fears seem to be coming to fruition. We have quasi confirmation that three of the maps that are going to come with the game are Damnation, Hang em High, and Battle Creek. Apparently popular is exactly the same as done to death. Logically speaking this game should be an excuse for them to remake maps that they have not gotten around to remaking in the past. What we have so far is two maps that have already been remade once before, and another map that has been cooked up in map editing by players countless times. What this is amounting to is maps you have played in the last five years.

Perhaps more damning is the fact that you can play all of these maps right now in Reach. With the forge, and half a dozen hours to spare you can make them yourself. You can even download the versions created by other players. It has actually become old hat to remake the simple Halo maps. What isn't at all easy is to make the larger maps. That would require more resources then the players are given.

Analytically speaking their is a failed logic at play here. They understand the power of the new technology to create drastic improvements in the visuals, but they aren't grasping the fact that it can enhance the game play. Plus provide old, but novel experiences for the console fans. Halo players have been pitching camp in medium sized maps for years. The original Halo on the PC actually had the muscle power to push through large maps for the players. With the grander scale the play changed up dramatically. The bigger size made for a different style of play.

Anyway it is all rather uninspired, and probably lazy. There is nothing innovative about what they are doing. There are a lot of games that get modern makeovers. However the original Halo has enough breadth that they really had a chance to make something really powerful. Instead it is coming across as all gimmick. They could have had a game that really made a splash. There isn't a real good reason that a remake cannot be a clearing house for new options to play. A rather disappointing showing.
