Forums - Nintendo - 3DS "doomed" planning thread

3DS - so far sales have been underwhelming.   I don't feel like debating the is it or is it not doomed right now for one simple reason: it is too debatable.  the center of the 3DS not doomed argument is "no big games have been released" and who could argue that.  not me, that's for sure.

so, before the end of the year:

Super Mario 3D

Mario Kart 3D

Starfox 64 3D

Kid Icarus Uprising

Lugi's Mansion 2

Legend of Zelda: ocarina of time

Additionally, promised for eventual release: Smash Brothers

so, just for thread planning purposes ... does this qualify as "good" games or not?  in short, if all of these release and 3DS sales remain underwhelming this holiday can i (without debate) doom the 3DS?  simple yes will do but if no please explain why not.

I think it will get even more games imo (like warioware touch etc.. )

To be honest MK+Mario and maybe another hit would be great.

Yes I think these qualify as 'good' games

For me, the first game that'll make me get a 3DS is Zelda OoT! *almost here!!*

oh, quick side note. while i welcome any feedback from anyone i am mostly interested in the sites maelstrom (sp?) followers. they have a clairvoyance for what the mass market likes that i could never dream of. for instance - i thought mario galaxy 2 was going to drive wii hardware sales but then when that didn't happen i was informed after the fact why that clearly wasn't going to be the case.

i just want to clearly know what to expect going forward so that i'm not surprised down the road. that's why i'm curious as to if this software counts as they kind of software that will drive 3DS sales or not.

I don't think Luigi's Mansion 2 was planned for the end of year. I thought they didn't have a release date for it.  Anyways, I plan on getting my 3DS at the end of this year.  I was waiting on Mario Kart mainly.

Plan to make 3DS sell like hotcakes this holiday season.....  Release the games mentioned in op.  They could do a 50 dollar price cut but I am not sure if Nintendo wants to cut the price so soon.  They probably should hold off the price cut till next spring or so.

I definitely want the new Mario, Mario Kart, and Zelda. Couldn't care less about Luigi's Mansion 2. Still only 3 games I want, well 4 if you count Paper Mario, but seems like we won't be seeing that one anytime soon.

3DS doom calls are hilarious... exactly because you know that games like this are coming.
Kid Icarus is so damn incredible...

But can it be a big system seller? Who knows

OT:

3DS is in a pickle in terms of sales....we will see what happens.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

@Darth:
Did you see the multiplayer? I think it could surprise us.

you know, i'm not so sure anymore.  for a site called vgchartz we don't have many availible chartz on this site.  as such i made some chartz for myself showing the DS, 3DS, and psp aligned by launch by region.  this is before my time on this site but i was surprised to see that the DS dropped as low as 15k weekly in the americas for like 2-3 straight months that first year.

but anyways, the fact remains that i apperently have not clue on what the "mass market gamer" wants which is why i need this thread to set me straight.
