I've never seen any evidence that OLED gets better battery life than LCD in real world usage.
Take a look at Anandtech's WiFi web browsing test scoreboard here for an example. I chose that test because the screen will always be on and it should remove the factor of CDMA/GSM/LTE power draw, though other power variables (battery size, CPU draw, screen size) are still in effect.

Out of 24 phones tested, the entire top 15, from the Blackberry Bold down to the HTC Thunderbolt, feature LCD displays. The Samsung Fascinate's super AMOLED clocks in two-thirds down the list at #16.
