Forums - Nintendo - Wii U won't play GC games

I think I will sell my Wii and keep my gamecube. I don't really play my gamecube games that much anyway

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

This has nothing to do with CPU and GPU compatibility, it's because of the controller ports and memory card slots. Those take a lot of space, and they're not free.

So I'm ok with it.

That's a fair point, I guess...

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

It's really weird to see, Nintendo making mistake after mistake, while Sony makes everything right with Vita.

Only one controller, no GC BC, not much first-party support (yet). This doesn't look good for Ninty. Ahh well, let's see where this goes...

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

Eh, it's okay I guess. Nintendo never went back farther than 1 gen anyway.

i personally couldn't care less. BC should be viewed as a bonus not a deal breaker imo. however i fully expect lots of people to complain to which i will say -- don't be so spoiled.

Remember, people said the same thing when the PSP came out against the DS and we know how that went, even if PSP is still just fine in its own right.

Doesn't bother me, I sold all my Gamecube games when I got my Wii. If Gamecube games are available on the Wii U's VC/Wiiware service, that would be cool for those who want them.

The PS3 used the HDD for memory cards, so something similar should be possible for GC games.  The WiiU controller could be used for GC games.  And since only one WiiU controller can be used with the wiiU there is no doubt going to be a classic controller or another WiiU controler with analog sticks.

BOO!
