| TheKoreanGuy said: No problems with my Vita overheating. I did however get a couple freezes while trying to open content manager or go on my music and also some odd errors. My fat PS3 gets warm too these days. It's probably dusty inside also. I heard reapplying some kind of thermal paste can help make your PS3 last longer. I should do that but you need to open it up and stuff. |
Do it sooner than later. If your fans are running into overdrive at any given time, you may have already have damage in the solder joints.
Find out which specific model you have and then go online for video tutorials of how to do the tear down. You'll probably be surprised at how much crap has accumulated inside the console. As for replacing the TIM, just about any high quality material is better than the factory paste. It's more of an issue of replacing dried out thermal paste (which is no longer effective) than using a higher quality paste that will knock a few degrees off your operating temps.
Yeah, it's a pain in the ass, but if it keeps your PS3 running smoothly, why not?

When was the last time you did it yourself? I'm wondering how long doing something like this will last me.
