Is there any point in making a new3DS more powerful than the vita? The extra power is for the sake of one game so far. In fact, is there any point in making any handheld more powerful than the vita? The west is a lost market for handhelds and Japanese developers don't bother to use even a third of the vita's capabilities. I think the question should not be whether sony decides to make a vita sucessor but whether it's even needed.

I'm talking about 3DS' successor :)

And yeah, there's no point Sony doing another handheld, but Nintendo might just have enough of a handheld market left to make one viable and in Japan at least, with handheld having the biggest market share, I'm sure the likes of Capcom would be quite happy with more power than the 3DS has, but also want the userbase it comes with.

The Japanese developers don't bother the same with Vita because the userbase is still too small to make it worth sinking any budget in. But also the games it's been getting, have either been PS3 cross format, or PSP cross format, very few have actually been made purely with Vita hardware in mind. I think that's why Danganronpa another story, Senran Kagura etc all look far better than most Vita games tend to do.

Where are the PSTV sales on the front page???

Isn't it counted as a single sku under vita? Maybe you can see their distribution in the next NPD? October NPD is not here yet I think.

lol, so VGChartz won't add them? :o

So what control system are people opting for? I'm finding Square to shoot is really difficult with a twin stick set up. I've not looked at what options there are yet, but I'm hoping you can map fire to R for at least the guns.

Loving the premise so far and the visual are just really nice and clean.

*Edit* Yes, yes there is a control scheme for using R as fire. It's cool that you can set the controls to better suit how you play. I prefer ranged weapons so should find this easier.

I use the Sprint controls.
Also not sure about default controls but in sprint controls, it makes R sprint so you can dodge and weave, and use sprint with triangle abilities easily. Fighting buttons are the same, but circle is the thorn. Also if you''re holding L, you can shoot with R, if you want to hip fire you use square though

I tried Marksmen and it works great whilst you have firearms equipped, but doesn't feel great with the Thorn. However it seems Technical gives you the best of both worlds, playing like a TPS if you have a gun, but if you have Melee equipped, Thorn is mapped to R which just seems to feel more comfortable to me. Trying to do the CODE2 Exam at the moment. I'm really struggling to gel with the game controls lol, but I'll keep at it as I'm loving so much about the setting of the game.

I'm sure once it clicks it'll be great. I just hope it does click. Any guidance for n00bs who struggle with complex controls would be greatly appreciated (I tend to prefer just using a couple of buttons, so this is waaay more technical than I'm used to).

*Edit* Technical is working far better for me so far :D

The way I look at controls when playing games is this. What has worked for me in the past. Dodging and rolling on X I had no problem with in SS, I'm use to sprint on R because of Ragnarok, Square and Triangle are honestly the most confortable attack buttons in these kinda games imo. L has to be Aim and lock on if not a D-Pad button. Which leaves O for thorn. Which works perfectly since the thorn doesn't need as much control and it makes the Sprint abilities alot more accessable than in the tutorial, I was like hell no when I saw the quick back and forth dodge and I had to cripple my hand to do it lol. I feel comfortable, I couldn't use marksman because I need to be able to reach the buttons while sprinting because sprint triangle is jump with the spear and it's apart of my fighting style. But I'd hate having the thorn button shifting back and forth lol

I wonder about that. I honestly believe that one of the reasons handhelds are so popular there is because games are so cheap to develop for. Take that away, and that's one less advantage it has.

I'm definitely getting a 3ds, if only for fire emblem. Not anytime soon though, maybe after the new 3ds releases and region free is here. There's also monster hunter and I've always wanted to try out the ace attorney series. A new metroid would be nice too. Hopefully you get more games that interests you on the 3ds later.

A 2D Metroid would be amazing, but I have the feeling Nintendo is done with those. Maybe Yokai Watch will do the trick. Or Project S.T.E.A.M., which looks pretty fun even though the art style is nowhere near as cool as I'd hoped. (In my head I was picturing something like Gravity Rush or Valkyria Chronicles rather than... that.)

Sadly, the kind of stuff I've always liked best on Nintendo handhelds is drying up as the little Japanese devs pack it up and move to mobile. Which wouldn't be so bad if they made the same kinds of games there, but alas, they're just churning out typical mobile garbage for the most part.

Isn't it more developers are chasing the userbase? The Japanese have clearly shown their preference towards handheld systems as opposed to home consoles in recent years.

We'll have to see I guess.

So will VGChartz add the PS TV numbers or not?
