| Izo said: Went into Gamestop today and the guy at the counter was telling me that the vita has been selling pretty well and consistently. He said not many people have been buying Rayman but uncharted was doing well. They have done a good job at advertising the Vita in gamestop. All you see when you walk in is blue. The huge demo with a huge wall of blue vita ads. Buy 2 get one free vita ads and extra trade in towards vita. I've been watching adult swim every night and I see vita commercial's almost every break between shows. He said they sold okay at first but started to pick up after a couple days. Im unsure what he means considering its only been out for 3 days. Gravity Daze has to be the game you buy for vita. That demo was so awesome; I stayed in there for like 30 minutes turning gravity upwards to fly around. Looking at the wall of games I have to say I am impressed. Easily the best launch line up to ever happen in gaming. Hats off to Sony they got this one right! |
Nice..I guess word of mouth will do the system a load of good. And yep I absolutely can not wait until I get my hands on Gravity! My most anticipated game of the year! (sorry TLOU)
@Wagram: yeah I heard if you are a platforming fan it's a game among the best ever made tier. But I can see why you would want to wait. If you want a cheaper platformer I recommend checking out Mutant Blobs from Space..that game seems to get some mad loving..I'm not a big platforming fan but I'm definitely buying it

Lol hacks. I agree the sliding puzzle is hard to do in 50 seconds =(. I think my best time was 1:46......lol. I also noticed it lets you slide blocks across to the other side (vertically or horizontally) at alternating periods of time, though I'm still having trouble using that to my advantage.
I went to best buy just now to see if I could pick up a copy of Blazblue but turns out they don't carry it and basically everything was sold out. They still had some leftover Uncharted and Hot Shots Golf, and one copy of Wipeout and Little Deviants, but everything was gone =0 Also they didn't have any 32gb memory cards.

Hmmm... Well, they had me fooled cuz NEAR says it's the "number of people playing in your area"

The amount of games sales via digital means on the psv are gonna surprise many I think :D

Only problem is I don't think SCE releases sales figures on digital licenses. If they do, that's news to me anyway.
What will be really interesting is to see how well digital licenses sell compared to retail box copies. There should be a strong corellation between the number of memory cards SCE sells and the rate at which people are buying digital licenses if there is a reliable way to track memory card sales. Seeing as how the only source is currently Sony, it seems doable.
The only thing holding digital back is the inflated memory prices for those proprietary memory cards. That alone is the reason why I'm still buying most PSV games on chip.
If they sell favorably, it would be pretty ironic considering that the digital sales format is what effectively killed the PSP Go after being much maligned. The lack of a UMD transfer program no doubt helped as well. That's speaking as someone who would have bought a PSP Go had they allowed license transfers to digital format from UMD.

I sure hope they do. Will help get a better idea of the sales situation. A lot of anectodal evidence have shown sell outs in many places tho for larger mem cards..same was the situation in JP when psv launched and the JP psn had psv games ranking real high in sales in the weeks after
I think people who pick up the bundles will be enticed to give the DD games a go..I know I will try out Escape Plan and Mutant Blobs when I get my psv next week for sure. As someone on another site pointed out, when all the games are available digitally, impulse buys tend to happen more often, especially if you have credit on your account.
I think what works on psv is that unlike the psgo, the consumer has the option to use both DL and physical. Consumers don't like being restricted imo. I think with the psv and things like making kz3 f2p Sony are learning how good digital distribution can be for games. I hope they keep improving

this is why I absolutely hate trying to be a trophy whore...just doing the stupid slide puzzles has me vexed. I have no problem DOING slide puzzles, I'm pretty damn good at them and practiced a lot as a kid, but it seems every time I do it I'm like, 5 seconds short. it's like, by the time you've even STARTED getting things worked out (okay, I got the top and left lines taken care of), 30 seconds has already passed, giving you like 20 seconds to finish the last 8 slots...which is NOT easy, especially when the goddamn side tiles keep messing with you by making you accidentally slide them through the walls. it's just frustrating as hell. This is why I stopped giving a shit about being a trophy whore. I play enough games to easily get platinum on almost everything I play, I just can't be bothered with the patience needed to wait for circumstances to be tolerable.
As for my reviews, GAH! I'm having SUCH a hard time writing this Rayman Origins review. I have so much to say, but I know that if I go into detail about all the things I want to talk about and explain WHY these things had so much of an impact on my experience, my editor's going to have a shit fit and edit out half the review in the interest of keeping it brisk. That's the problem with game review, I know it's the respectful thing to assume your readers know what you're talking about when you discuss level design and theming, but realistically speaking, I doubt all of the thousands who will end up reading my review will understand what I mean when I discuss flow or intuitive design, so I have to explain what these things are and why they're important.
Gah, what a pain in my ass
