kind of off topic, but was the ZX Spectrum mainstream in the UK ? I know that Rare was one of the heavy supporters before they switched to the NES.

Yes it was. It has been an emblematic cultural product of that period in the whole UK, while abroad it had to share the glory with Commodore 64. Some tiny british software houses, like Imagine, became milionaire in few months (and then collapsed even faster).

There was no Rare, at that time: it was called Ultimate, instead. An excellent software house, possibly the best. It changed its name to Rare as soon as it switched to the NES.

is ecolibrium any good?(just asking cause its free)

Being free, trying it costs you nothing. Honestly, I didn't like it a bit, but I'm not really a sim games fan or expert.

Vitachartz, I need help.

Basically, after thinking about it for ages I just bought a PS3 this week (£100 for a 320GB Slim, 2 DS3s and 12 games), so for PS3/V multis I now have access to both versions. Now in some cases that isn't a problem because I know exactly which version I want (Rayman Legends for example I will eventually get on Vita because of dat OLED and dem colorz)

However, I'm really conflicted about FFX HD - I've been playing Ni No Kuni on PS3 these past few days and it's been amazing, first time I've played a JRPG on a home console, however I'd kind of like to show support for Vita games. That said I don't like having X-2 digital only on Vita because I'll have to buy a new memory card which will make it more expensive than it is already (right now the Vita version is £30 on amazon but on PS3 it's only £24)

I really don't know what to do, anyone else in the same boat? I already gave in on Dragon's Crown and bought PS3 because it was just £19 in an HMV last-gen clearance. At the minute I'm leaning towards PS3 and I'll just make up for my unfaithfulness by buying Ys, Danganronpa, P4G, Toukiden etc. when they come out, but we'll see.

Thing is so I can really delve into the PS3 catalogue I've set myself a limit of no more than £15 on a single game, so my funds will last longer, so I probably won't be able to buy those for a ver ylong time unless I come into some more money and can make an exception, but who knows

Oh well, first world problems and all that :)

I'd say just go for the version you like more. There's no need to go out of your way just to support the vita. You can get the other games that you really want on the vita later on once your next allowance/ paycheck comes in.

Guess first world problems are a major issue in this thread, Anyways i'd say buy both version of the games that way you wouldn't have to chose.

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

True, I suppose I'm just agonizing over it a bit too much. I guess if I'm being truthful I'd like to get FFX HD on PS3 eventually, should follow on nicely from Ni No Kuni and Dragon's Crown, but we'll see, I might just see whats on offer and try things I haven't really thought about on both consoles

EDIT: @SnakeDrake - Seriously I did think about it but it'd be over £60 for FFX and I could get 4 or 5 games for that. I can't say I wasn't tempted though ;)

Do you want to play the game only at home? Buy the PS3 version.
Do you want to play the game only on-the-go? Buy the Vita version.
Do you want to play the game at home and on-the-go? Buy the Vita version.

It is always sad to see such an old developer struggling :/

They are as old as Rare....

I have to buy more games from smaller European publishers  !

ZX Spectrum was pretty much the machine that kick started the UK games industry it actually sold over 5 million units which for an 80s machine with a limited release globally is pretty impressive (given the market was much smaller then too and there were a lot more rivals). Most of the UK veterans started with games on Spectrum or it's rival, the Amstrad CPC 464 they were what made home computers/gaming affordable to a wider audience. This was also a time when pretty much every game was "indie" coded in a bedroom by an enthusiast or two initially as a hobby rather than as a career.

I guess that's why I'm much happier with indie games than a lot of people as to me, it's just how gaming used to be.

Anyway getting back on topic. I'd get the Vita version to help improve the chances of more Vita development from Square-Enix and then just get a Vita TV :P though it looks like both versions would make a good purchase if you could stomach it as the games support cross save don't they? Meaning you can play on PS3 whilst at home, then if you want to carry on later away from home you can transfer the save to the Vita.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Vita version is £27 on Shopto if that helps a little :P

The digital version of FFX / X-2 HD better be as cheap as the hard copy, otherwise it's the PS3 version for me.
