Inafune's spiritual successor to Mega Man handheld bound.
A PlayStation Vita version of Keiji Inafune's Mighty No. 9, the spiritual successor to the Mega Man series, is a Kickstarter stretch goal.
Sony's Shahid Ahmad, the man seen as largely responsible for Sony's extensive indie push with the PlayStation 4 and Vita, made the announcement during a developer sessions at this year's EGX.
Mighty No. 9 is an action platformer cast firmly in the Mega Man mould, with Inafune and his Comcept studio taking to Kickstarter to fund the project. With four days to go, the game has already brought in over $2.5 million - well ahead of its target of $900,000. It's set for release in April 2015 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U as well.
Ahmad didn't mention how much Comcept will ask for the Vita version to be created. We'll update as soon as it's announced.
Inafune's cagey (sorry) about the similarities between Mighty No. 9 and Mega Man, or at least he was when Jeff caught up with him earlier this year. From concept art and description, though, it's Mega Man in all but name - something fans of the series who've been abandoned by Capcom will likely be grateful for.

April 2015? Even if we don't assume there might be some delays, I think the platform roster is flawed, PS360 will definitely be in big decline. They should release for next-gen platforms and Wii U.
Good that they plan a Vita version though, would buy it for it.
So it is happening...PS4 preorder.
Greatness Awaits!

PS4 and Xbone was a stretch goal it fell slghtly short of so it wouldnt shock me if it does end up on them too. Also Im not shocked with April 2015, he is a busy man
lol 3,500,000$ to get 3DS and vita versions. Only about a million to get it and 4 days left.

I think it's more like Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

So Capcom JAPAN would put Monster Hunter 4 exclusively on the 3DS because Capom USA couldn't convince Sony USA to fix ad-hoc party? Again, SCEJ would bend over backwards for Monster Hunter if they could. So why wouldn't Capcom Japan to go Sony Japan and say "Get SCEA to fix ad-hoc party or else you'll loose Monster Hunter" instead of just throwing it on the 3DS exclusively without thought? On top of that Capcom has no explanation as to why it's not on the Wii U either other than "The way that we work with Monster Hunter games is that we see them as single entities, so we don’t develop for one platform and then think about porting it to another platform". Yet Monster Hunter 3G is perfectly acceptable as a multi because they want more people to play it? They can't even come up with a good excuse for anything and you'll believe them when their PR man puts blame to Sony? |
Because SECJ doesnt have the authority to change decisions made by SCEA. That can only be done by the head honchos of the company, wich werent in on the action here.
Why Capcom made the decision, is simply because as Sven said, Monster hunter is part of the company's global strategy. So, yes. Because of that Capcom had to procure different venues that were in accordance with their company strategy.
With that said, you have a peculiar idea of business if you think capcom can just go into SCE and blackmail them into doing what they want. Each company has their strategy and if they arent compatible they just have to find different partners.
Also i think capcom meant the main series entry when they said that quote you have there. Monster Hunter tri was a Wii exclusive at first aswell.
