Nope Wii U has brought back core games to Nintendo and that alone is significant.

I agree, they are bringing core GAMES to Nintendo, now I just wonder if the core GAMERS, who Nintendo has given plenty to be excited about, will actually come over, or will they find some new excuse to senselly hate on the Big N? I mean, HD? Yep. Third Party support? Yep (ARKAHM CITY YAY!!!) Expanded online support? Yep (not much on that yet, but it was mentioned a few times by both Nintendo and the EA guy). Sign me up.

Not that i dont agree, but all those things you mentioned have been done on current HDs for years. Arkham City will be out in OCt, you really think a core gamer who already has PS360 or both is going to plunk down 300 just to play a game they already own??? That would make no sense, especially if they dont care about Ninty titles

Core gamers are not necessarily fan boys... the same way the 360 won over the GTA sony core fans i think the same will happen if given time and support.

Do you think Nintendo needs those people? If the Wii U and continue to bring in the crowds that Wii currently has, plus steal aways those who say they want the what the HD twins have but also want the First party nintendo goodness, they will do just fine. It's the Wii60 philosophy, but all on one console. Why buy the HD twins, when you can get the same games PLUS Nintendo exclusives? I know this is an over simplification, but there are many gamers like myself who only want or can afford one system, why not the one that has the widest variety?

LISTEN TO THE FIRST WORLD PODCAST REAL GAMERS, REAL AWESOME

They by no means 'blew it', but I expected so much more. Actually the 3DS part was IMO easily and by far the best bit of E3 2011.

Perfectly said mate

Based on expectations of what they'd show I can understand the disappointment. Even I was let down that they didn't have even one of their IPs present in fully playable HD form.

However at E3 '05, a year before the Wii's big showing in '06, what did they show? The console in Iwata's hands... that's it. We saw nothing on the Wii remote until much later that year. At least now they showed off how the controller works, announced some third party games and shared what developers think of it.

And the controller btw, from what I've heard so far from people who have actually played it now (as opposed to us at home making threads), sounds very cool and is comfortable to boot.

your making no sense, first you say that NInty will get that "core" gaming crowd, and since i said the wont really get it unless the features are really better and the games they get are exclusive, now you say they dont need them??? Your right they dont, but then why even try to have 3rd party "core" games with that attitude??? They should keep doing what they were doing with Wii. People who already have an HD console are not going to pluck money down just to get a port of a game they own. Look at the sales of ports if you dont believe me. RE4(PS2 version) & Okami are the only ones who did better than the original. I dont think its about affordability, i think its about outright fanboyism for some people. One could afford a Wii and nothing else, fair enough. You miss out on a bunch of 3rd party titles. Now you say you will buy a WII U which wiil be MORE expensive than the current HD systems?? Just buy the HD systems then

I'm not buying one if its not significantly more powerful than the PS360. I would rather spend that money on killer software for my PS3.
