Forums - Sony - Predict NGP/PSv 3rd party line up!

NGP will have the best launch lineup ever for a system and possibly the best 3rd party support a handheld has ever got!

How on earth did things end up like this?

This gaming industry is really unpredictable. Look at your statement (and its probably true!) then you go look at the 3DS threads before it launched. PSP2 was deemed 'dead on arrival'. UNBELIEVABLY, the PSP1 outsold the 3DS worldwide this month.

What a crazy industry.

It is funny. But this gen has been like it. Wii went from being predicted to do 20 million in its ENTIRE lifespan to selling 20 million EACH YEAR let alone its entire lifespan. PS3 went from selling LESS than GBA weekly in 07, being the joke in the industry, having a book written about its failure in Japan that was published to now LEADING the industry and widely believed to have the best console library for the past 2 years.

i'd be careful about getting your hopes up too high, you're going to be very disappointed if you truly believe that.

For the first thing all NGP needs to have is a mediocre launch lineup since most consoles have a crap launch lineup.

The latter part was the usual darth's over-excited hyperbole hype addition.

lol - well i'll concede to both of those points.

... just remember though, the 3DS appeared like it was going to have the best launch line up ever and look at how that turned out.  i expect the same for the NGP/psv.  it is just the way it is with launches regardless of the platform.

but to counter my own point -- i have to say i am kind of excited about the system and even considering getting it at launch.  between my psn+ subscription and the Welcome back program i'll have 2 psp games and tons of ps1 classics to play right away without buying any software.  and since i never had a psp the back catalog (mostly VC 2/3 and patapon) can probably keep me busy for a full year.

I don't think people are too fond of your statement however... It would be incredible if it happens to be true though. I think the mere fact that there are two analogue sticks makes it easier for devs to publish regular games on the system. I sure as hell won't be playing any FPS games on 3DS if there's a NGP nereby!

You forgot the regular suspects on NGP :P

I am certain by years end there will be a Tiger Woods, Madden, Fifa, PES, Call of Duty (which I believe was also announced), Need For Speed, and a plethora of movie based games for children, action and family movies coming out this year. :P I'm hoping there will be a Mirrors Edge, SSX or Battlefield because EA love making portable ports of their games and the NGP has controls that would make all of those games awesome on a portable device. I'm also thinking that we're going to see a few titles that generally launch with every console (probably Ridge Racer, Ghost Recon).

Also, the NGP will likely have a lot of the apps previously available from iTunes or Android marketplaces in their "mini" series that are touch screen based for the NGP specifically.

yeah just now noticed the edit! :P and agree I expect quite a few games from EA. Wonder what Epic will have for the system..most probably a varient of the ios games they have. Good point about the apps, with ps suit and android it hsould have a heavy stream of smaller games for those who prefer those.

and mirrors edge with the control options in NGP/PSv will def be quite something. I think these companies should bring franchises like that and KEEP them on the portable and no where else. doubt it will happen tho

Well the big hitters are really WipEout and Uncharted, but it won't be too long before GT, Killzone, Resistance and LBP join them

As for 3rd parties, CoD is coming, and I think Battlefield has also been confirmed. But I am most interested in FIFA really...

really? don't remember seeing that..would be kick ass

OH and I forgot

FIGHTING GAMES!

on the psp some of my most played fave games were fighting games..I'm sure we will see bunch of them on this too..with an analog stick it should be wonderful

SF Arcade edition

Mortal Kombat

Tekken tag 2 etc

Wait.... we do not need a psp to get those games?  HEck yeah, I better dl before it is too late. UC(my game of choice), LBP(psp), and Modnation Racers(psp) at launch.... that is going to be sweet.

righto - ngp is BC with anything you buy on psn, right now the welcome back offers two free psn psp games.  so while i can't play them now, i do intend to play them on an ngp someday soonish.
