Forums - Gaming - New Final Fantasy XIII-2 Screens

Don't get me wrong though guys, I am still getting this game Day 1, as I do with very main entry FF title.

I just hope these changes allow me to take a bit more time during battles instead of feeling the need to rush.

I'm wondering, why is there a SWORD next to the battle menu? That wasn't there in XIII-1

Does it display the weapon that type of character uses that your controlling?

Probably allows to switch characters then.

Where is the break meter gone lol?

So I will still play this entire game by sitting back and hitting the "X" button?

*sigh*

I want my strategy back!

You're not forced to use auto-battle (if you meant auto-battle). I thought we're over that last year.

I am fully aware of that, but in many cases not using auto-battle proved to be bothersome since it is an active battle system and the enemies move quite fast.

It was more of "I am going to use this and this and some of that", then spam it with "Repeat" until you have to change it up. No time to really browse your options without big time consequence.

I prefer the "Wait" system. FFXIII doesn't allow you to change it do they? To be honest I don't know if I checked.

I fully agree with you. That's one of the many flaws of XIII.

As far as I remember, no. You can't change the battle system from active to wait. IMO, it would be better if they gave us the choice to slow down the battle system. It's too fast.

As much as I hated XIII. I'm still getting XIII-2 day 1, too. Heck, I even platinumed the game just because it's a Final Fantasy game.

Come on E3, I want gameplay footage of the battle system.

By the way, does this game have towns?

FFXIII allowed you to reduce the speed in the options of battles if players wanted to pick commands on their own (you can't pick commands on your own fast enough if the battle system is in the normal speed mode). But that means you won't get 5 stars like ever in the battle summary screen (if you cared about getting 5 stars)

Yes and that is my biggest gripe with FF XIII. I hope they slowed it down a bit so I can actually take the time to plan out my shit.

FFXIII was little to no strategy involved. Just level up and unlock higher HP and Stats.

So if I change it to play more towards my style I get penalized? O_o

That's fucked up.

In Feb the devs said the game will have loads of NPC's and hinted at it having villages and some kind of new transportation system. We'll find out at E3.
