I hope this isn't 'limited time' like SMB: The Lost Levels on the VC 'limited time', because that was complete and utter bullshit.

Can't wait for the update!

Less than a week to go!

Need something off Play-Asia? http://www.play-asia.com/

Instead of giving a free game, they should give free points to every new 3DS owner, just like they did with the DSi. Don't make it limited, but make it a feature so everyone would connect their handheld online. Advertise it/add a pamphlet to the packaging and the online shop becomes healthier.

Anyways, anything for free is good in my book

Makes me happy. The aim of course is to get more people to download the eshop update, and that's a good way to do it.

Doesn't the 3DS update automatically? I though that was Nintendo's way of "getting people online" in the first place...

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Well update prompts are automatic, but :

1. You have to set up your 3DS for online initilaly for it to be able to go online. At least I think so, at least that was the way it was with my home network, not sure about Spotpass.

2. You have to have the wireless turned on...

3. unless I remember incorrectly (which is possible) I had the option to opt out of the one and only update so far

I'm talking about the complete and utter bullshit that was the original release of SMB: The Lost Levels in PAL regions during the Hanobi festival in 2007.  They released it for 600 points and for a 'limited time' (about 2 weeks I think) and then after than 'limited time' took it down, so it wasn't available.  They about a year later they released it again, but so far haven't taken it down.  I have not idea what possessed NoE to think that was a good, or even moderately acceptable idea.

I guess they thought of it as a limited edition thing, like prime trilogy...
