everyone i know that jailbreak their ps3 is pirating games. hell, one of my friends asked me to borrow some of my games to copy... hell no

Which is... completely irrelevent?

kasz216, you're just not seeing the big picture here. I can't help you any more than that.

No... i'd suggest you don't see the big picture.

I rest my case. There is nothing further to discuss.

The problem is... your case is without merit.  Number of people hacking for piracy reasons is irrelevent in the big picture.

If you can't make an arguement... you should take that as a sign that you don't have one.

Well technically in the Geohotz suit they were sueing every website that had the sony root keys posted on it... and anyone who posted them and anyone who linked to a website that posted them.

So... probably already screwed if you've ever linked VGchartz... since VGchartz links to a site that links to the root keys.

Afterall by linking to a website that mentions the keys you are "distributing the keys" in Sony's eyes.

Even if it's like... IGN or some shit.

Heck even posting in the thread could be considered distributing because you are bumping the thread up to where people can see it.

It really just outlines how utterly stupid and unwinnable a case it was... and why they dropped charges against EVERYONE but hotz without any charges.

Including people like Fail Overflow who had more to do with the cracking then Hotz did.  Hotz brought it across the finish line... but i think it's doubtfull he'd of got there without Fail Overflow, who sony dropped charges against... and I don't think can repress them.

That's not cool. Now Sony'll find out that I love boobies and they'll spam me and I'll get even more  boobies enlargement spam emails.

Hope they don't start sending me animal porn, too, for posting the chimp raping a frog here.

Ok, I'll be generous enough to butter your bread for you..

I'll be really quick on this. Lets compare the linux users on ps3 versus the vast majority of those who don't care about it on ps3. Think about it for a min. Now remember what my first post on this thread read. Yes I'm using people I know in person for this example, this should be simplistic enough. They even have fixed psp's for crying out loud. You cannot prove me wrong on this when there is a large number of people who doesn't care about linux on PS3.

I'm 110% sure you'll reply with something else anyways. However this thread is about this hacking group. I'm just upset about this whole shiznitz

That's the problem.  You aren't thinking logically because you are angry.

Look at MP3 players...

what percentage of MP3 players don't have illegal music on them.

Lets consider the fact that the most popular Ipod is the 32 gig which stores up to 8,000 songs.  So to fill up the most popular Ipod... that's $8,000... and more if you are buying Cds since a dollar a song is actually cheaper then a music album usually.

Also, note that music companies maintain that ripping music off your CD and playing it on your computer or an Mp3 player is illegal... and you need to "rebuy" the music on the internet to get a liscense that allows for playing on Mp3 players and your computer.

Also interestingly, at the time of 275 Million Ipod sales... they passed 11 billion itunes song sales.  Or a staggering 40 itunes songs for every ipod.  (if i'm doing my math right.)

Or say....

Blank CDs... how many Blank Cds are used for file storing and backup copies of CDs....

How many are used for stuff like Illegal mix cds. (When you copy it has to be an exact copy according to the letter of the law.) and burning things for friends, or just burning pirated movies and games?

Also, have you ever considered you just aren't in the right subset of people?  One of the main reasons anecdotes can not be used as a sample is that like people tend to cluster... because we form friendships and aquatences with people who are like us and share similar tastes.

Anecdotes are not data because the people we know are not random selected... we specifically select the people we like more and exclude those we like less.

Maybe in several years time I can forget about the horrible wrongs Sony as done, but as for now, I cannot feel sorry for Sony.  Sorry Sony, stop trying to damage your consumers.  Stop trying to arrest you consumers and have them thrown in jail.  Stop trying to cause them to lose their jobs and break up their families.  Sony owes everyone on Earth a huge SORRY.

Yeah! SONY also needs to apologise for global warming and nuclear weapons.

If SONY creates global warning, then SONY can apologise for that.  But first the problem needs to be created by SONY.  Let's be consistent about this :)

SONY did create global warming. They also "damage" and "arrest" consumers and break families apart and have insulted the entire world.
