Forums - Nintendo - Cranky => Original Donkey Kong??? =D?

This has been the case since Donkey Kong Contry, or am I wrong? Cranky even talks about the good old times AFAIK.

It was explained pretty clearly in Donkey Kong Country (maybe in the manual) but Cranky kept saying stuff like "Back in the day, we didn't have ..."

Also I always thought that Donkey Kong was the grandson of Cranky Kong not son but I guess it works ether way

It is because Mario spends  much of his days in NeverNever Land.

Is this supposed to be some kind of revelation?  I've known this since the first DKC on the SNES.

No, I think those just explain why he tends to see flying turtles, fire breathing plants and little walking mushrooms.

@theRepublic  im confused myself, i thought this was common knowledge among gamers in general

Cranky sitting on the red steel structure in DKC intro was a huge giveaway. I thought this was already cannon and Mario doesn't age because he is a Human and Gorillas reach their adulthood at about 9 or 10 years (and life expectancy for jungle Gorillas is like 30 years).

ALSO Mario doesn't age because he is a video game character and the face of a huge business.

There's also the fact that when Nintendo released DKC, they were reviving an old franchise that was almost forgotten. I see Cranky's relation to Donkey Kong like Nintendo saying "This ain't your old Donkey Kong of early NES fame, this is a totally new kind of game!"

First part true. They live a lot longer in captivity (since human medicine works on them most of the time), hitting 50 or even more. DK has always seemed more like an Orangutang though. (Diddy is a monkey since he has a tail, and not a gorilla either.)
