Your argument is a epic failure, has been a epic failure for years, and will be a epic failure for many years to come. You are not the first to try this nonsense. It did not work for them, and it will not work for you, because it is simply false. You are not able to lump sum a genre and all the games in that genre. There are games in the First Person Shooter genre that do actually have hundreds of real differences between one another, and that far outstrips the argument that a handful of similarities makes all the games the same.

I would cite the differences between a few of these titles, but given your obvious low opinion of the genre perhaps oh say something closer to the topic. Did you know that God of War and Zelda are basically the same game. Yeah they are in the same genre, and that means they are the same. They share a handful of similarities how can you possibly doubt me. The two of them are the same, and that means we need to have a very low opinion of both titles. You know since they are just plain ripping one another off.

Wow you took my post pretty hard there hey buddy?.......Kind of a bizarre way to react to someones opinion

Sorry to shatter any illusions, but I am not emotionally invested. I only want two things. Good debates, and to have fun trying to win them. With that in mind when I see bad tactics I will almost always call somebody out, and procede to lay a beatdown. You didn't have a opinion you were just trying to change the subject by attacking something else. A logic that simply doesn't work anywhere. Really it was so transparent as to be blatantly obvious.

Around the Network

You know it's funny I was just in a conversation with someone about changing the Zelda genre into an Action RPG. Zelda II is the only one I'll consider to maybe an RPG like Zelda game. Why would anyone thing the other zelda games are rpgs? Is it the getting hearts thing? Or getting a bigger arsenal? Every genre does that even some FPS games have those.

Only thing I wish for zelda is to have a more robust move set with weapons outside of Links sword while still increasing his sword moves. And making the puzzles/dungeons more challenging. Like portal 2 level of difficulty.

edit: you know I don't even understand why this thread is even still going on? The first post by mysticwolf should have killed this thread.

Last time I checked debates were more about learning...

I think he was hoping the learning would be on your end.  Something like "that argument was fallacious and I was wrong to act like all FPS's are the same thing"

...

I've played Zelda 1, 2, Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask each through many many times. Majora's Mask I only played 3 or 4 times though... Wind Waker and Twilight Princess once each. In my opinion, the order is as follows:

1. Ocarina of TIme
2. Link to the Past
3. Majora's Mask

The rest I change my mind about regularly. While I felt Majora's Mask was an excellent game, I always feel better playing Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time. As with those two games, I always feel like there are many portions of the game I want to re-experience, and they stay in my head for weeks after I finish them. This same thing is not quite true for Majora's Mask or any of the other games.

I feel they nailed the idea with Link to the Past, and they perfected it with Ocarina of Time; and the deviations from that formula, while in some cases excellent, are less than the Perfect Masterpiece of Ocarina of Time.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

is there a bad zelda ?
