Have you ever tried those ps360 ports? They are some damn good games.

I'm sure they are good, but they don't apear to me like the Wii games. I have a computer the can run many HD games, so I tryed Tomb Raider Legend, The Last Remnant, Fear, Torchlight, Titan Quest, Killing Floor, etc. But as I said in another thread, I had more fun playing Just Dance and Wii Sports with my family/girlfriend/friend that every single HD game on my PC.

WM Plus should have been there in the beginning but can't really go back and change that now.  They also fouled up on the implementation of WM plus.  I was just wanting to point out that while Nintendo might not be the first to implement new control schemes they definitely make new control schemes popular (analog sticks, motion controls, dual screens, etc..)

The gyroscope needed wasn't small and affordable enough in 2006. It wasn't until around 2008. So should can't change couldn't.

If Nintendo never planned on having the thing from the start, why was it featured on the first trailer revealing the controller? Check around the 1 minute mark.

How do you read "couldn't" as "never planned to"? That's "wouldn't". There is a difference.

My point was if they went as far as featuring it in the reveal for the controller you can be sure they were seriously considering having it packaged on day one. Or in other words, it probably was small enough to fit, and while still relatively expensive, was obviously affordable enough for them to consider it. You don't introduce a product to your audience without making sure of all those details in advance.

^^ Actually, the problem with DKCR was that it was a game that needed exact timing precision yet relied on motions for some of its controls

If the game utilized some of the unused buttons instead, we wouldn't have had this problem. Nothing to do with the fact that the controller is split

So true but the classic controller will still feel more natural since the older ones were centered around the snes controller and the classic controller replicates that perfectly.

I really like the split controller. I don't even realize it until it's mentioned. My hands are rested comfortably on games that doesn't require use of pointer or motion.

Ninty wasn't the first to try it (there were experimental and small scale production models from small specialized companies and university labs many years before), but it was the first to do it right and affordable. I still think that not having included WM Plus functions since the start was an error (being able to price Wii $50 more than initially predicted, thanks to competitors' excessive price, gave Ninty enough margin to do it), but any company could accept errors that let them sell more than 85M consoles and give them large chances to sell more than 110M lifetime in the worst case scenario.

As I already answered somebody in a thread some time ago, such gyroscopes already existed and were small and cheap enough at least two years before Wii launch, and Ninty perfectly knew it, as it used them in a GBA game cartridge in 2004

Including the feature late, and making it standard equipment even later, so that less than a half of the total Wii user base has it, made 3rd parties less willing to make the effort to optionally use it in games and even less to design games for mandatory use of it. But actually it looks like it had the same effect on most 1st party games, even the majority of those released after the feature became standard on every new Wii.

I stopped reading the article when he said he has only played other people's HD systems. A one sided viewpoint like this is just plain too one sided. Writing about things you have not experienced first hand is not accurate and self formed.

That was a different kind, not what Nintendo needed for the Plus.

Not for dudes on here, but in the media I would expect them to get someone who enjoys a wide range of games and I do not think this of a most one console fans. At a smaller site like this one I guess they have a lot of reviewers with ony one console, but I still think it's not ideal.

So, what do you guys reckon?  Was it a waste of time? Do you regret buying one?

Yes it was a waste of time but I really don't regret buying it. I got a nice profit from wii and mostly from the games I bought. People seem to think that it is a good deal if you pay 50% less than what a wii game costs at a supermarket.

...

Luckily that 50% is 200% more than what you pay online.
