Wii numbers are going to be low for that week because the $150 Mario Kart Wii bundle was announced like a couple weeks ago. It should be interesting to see how the Wii fares with the price drop. I still feel the Wii would have been able to maintain a strong position if Nintendo still bothered to try to release killer apps for the system and didn't seal the console's fate by announcing Project Cafe. The price cut was also long overdue. They could have milked the Wii longer if they bothered to support it. The third-parties also need to stop blaming the Wii for their mediocrity. There's no stopping a talented development studio from making a quality, profitable Wii release in standard definition. The gaming industry is made up of a bunch of graphics whores and fanboys that purposely put garbage or mediocre efforts on the Wii so that they can justify avoiding the Wii to their shareholders.

We don't know how big the price cut will be. If it is $100 again, that would be a larger percentage cut that last time.
Nintendo cut their price in 2009 around the same time as the PS3, Microsoft also cut the price of the elite to $300 as well as discounting the pro to clear its stock.
The big exclusive in holiday 2009 was Uncharted 2. The big exclusive in holiday 2011 is Uncharted 3. Japan got FFXIII in late 2009, it seems they might get FFXIII-2 in late 2011.
Seems pretty similar to me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the DS was launched in '04, PSP and 360 in '05 and PS3 and Wii in '06. Other than that, I believe that the 3DS in 2011 is the most recently released console.

The chart is comparing up to mid may for each year. There was no PS3 or Wii on the market at the start of '06.

Wii/PS3 were launched in late '06, so they would have first appeared in '07 for the sales up to mid-May. Therefore,' 07 should have seen big growth over '06.
