More like videogame-failure, the industry is down YoY like, what, 200k? Of course much is due to DS/Wii decline, but the fact that PS3 and 360 are going down WoW at the same percentage is not that great.


PS3, 360 and PSP combined are down less than 50k yoy, not bad


How were they doing last week YoY? To me these 10% declines are scaring...

We've actually been on a decline for this period of the year ever since 2008.

The 2004 number might be a bit inaccurate, but it seems quite plausible to me.

While 2011 (so far) is the smallest year since the DS launched, it's still a decently sized year. The industry isn't doing very rubbishly hardware wise.

Surely you won't consider the ~2.7m addition by 3DS a non-factor here? None of '07-'10 had new hardware launches. '11 had a fairly large one and is actually declining at a faster rate than ever (well, more or less). Granted that most of that is attributable to the beyond-horrible-makes-me-cry performance of the Wii, but still.

I was really hoping that consumeres wouldn't reward Splash Damage/ Bethesda with sales. Hopefully there will be a massive drop-off in the weeks to come.

PS3 still kicking ass.

WOW at Wii being last and getting its ass handed to it in ALL 3 major regions. Selling not much above the 360 in Japan!

The 3DS not doing well at all losing to the "Dead" PSP in two regions and "just" outselling it by 20K in NA. Definitely not a good sign.

I hate these boring numbers!  At least Halo Reach is in the top 40 still...

And Black Ops (360) passed MW2 (360)!!!!!! 13-13.5 million for it looks pretty solid.

Well the way it is now will see it hit roughly  13,350,000, but as you say there are some things to happen later on in the year like a possible (and pretty likely) pricecut... but in the end I still don't see it as certain to be its best year it will achieve between 14-15 million and not likely any higher.

If a pricecut happen then that's better compare this year with 2009... in 2009 it sold 13 million but just 2.7 million til  half may.

I predict the second semester the PS3 will be UP YoY.

Things will be different in 2011 compared to 2009.

Smaller Pricecut
Competition pricecuts as well, MS will match pricecut or more, Nintendo has already cut price
No big franchises still coming
Nearing the end of the generation.



Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Wow, GT5's legs are significantly worse than GT4's. Did GT4 have a price before 25 weeks, or is the series just less popular now?

GT4 was launched in March... GT5 in November.... so GT4 week 25 was September.

And I guess GT5 is undertracked by 200-300k in last quarter... 15k per week putiing it near GT4 sales.
