BioWare hiring for Dragon Age III

Posted May 20th, 2011 at 11:14 EDT by Mike Harradence

tweet from BioWare’s Alistair McNally has all but confirmed that the celebrated studio is working on a third Dragon Age game.

The post itself says that McNally is “looking for exceptional environment artists to join me at #BioWare Edmonton, Canada to work on DragonAge3.”

If that wasn’t enough to convince you that BioWare is beavering away on Dragon Age III, the message was soon was retweeted by Mass Effect 3’s gameplay designer, Christina Noman.

Dragon Age III was previously rumored to be in the works by the folks at OPM UK, though this is the first time the project has been mentioned by anyone at BioWare or publisher Electronic Arts.

I was one of the biggest Dragon Age Origins fans on this site... Yet still haven't bought or played Dragon Age 2.

Meh.

I enjoyed #2 even if it wasn't the same game (and nowhere near as excellent) as DA:O.

I think they did well on combat, animation and graphics is number 2, just wish we had more locations and no silly wheel of talking options just for them to say something else. If they make everything else like DA:0 I'll be happy.

Oh and less 'YOU MUST CHOOSE A OR B' in game in general is always a good thing. Dang it, I want to say maybe or change my mind later. The conversation in DA:O was so much better then 2, even if we had a voice.

Hmm, pie.

From the reception the second one has been getting that may be a good thing.

After Dragon Age 2, not interested

Unless drastic changes are made.

Wow, i thought people liked DA II. There was a lot of hype about it.

I played the first one and wanted to pick the sequel up to. Anyone care to explain what changed against the first one...?

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I sold DA:O, DA:A and DA2.  BioWare were my fav dev at one time but barring a huge shift in EA's thinking I won't bother with this IP again.

I actual like Dragon Age 2. While I haven't put near as much time into it as Origins, I've still found it to be an enjoyable experience. Although I hope for DA3 they fix the following.

-Recycled Locales : I understand that some quests would take place in the same areas, but they are like a half dozen locales in the whole game

-Bugs: broken rivalry paths for Merril and Anders, quests that can't be completed because of bugs, do beter QA Bioware

-Railroading: Too many decisions in DA2 didn't matter. No matter what you did in most cases things played out the same.

-Party Member Armor: I didn't like having all this cool armor that only Hawke could wear. It was especially annoying when you got cool gear for a class other than what your Hawke was.

All that said, even with it's flaws, I find DA2 to be a fun game. The combat is better and I think the writers did a good job with fleshing out each of the party members backgrounds and stories...well except Anders.

Okay, guys.  I'm hearing that DA:O is arguable the best action fantasy RPG on the market today.  Am I correct?

I don't know if my opinion is very valuabe, because I am not a big fan of WRPG's. I gave DA:O a try in my PS3, and I can tell this game is MEANT to be played on PC. So if you play it, do so on PC for sure. It's like the whole point of DA:O is it's depth but that depth is difficult to take advantage of on PS3 (and I imagine 360).

I found the game quite immersive, but as I said this style of game is just 'meh' for me. If you like WRPGs then definitely give it a try, because it's meant to be one of the better ones.

And BTW beatiful baby you have there.
