Forums - Website Topics - gamrFeed - what do you like, what can we do better?

Quality control. There are lots of crap articles in the news section. It got especially bad during the George Hotz scandal. Seriously, there would have been an article if someone from Anonymous had farted. I feel like there's more of an attempt to be sensationalist and write attention-grabbing titles rather than produce quality articles. There's still plenty of good stuff, but I feel like the credibility of the news section has declined.

I second this.

Around the Network

-A general re-design, making it look more professional and easier to find the article you want

-More articles per day. Most sites have upwards of 25 articles per day. We're lucky if we get 10. But that doesn't mean more crap should be posted. You know, more originals, interviews etc. Something to make it 'the' place to go, rather than just an afterthought...

-A better comment system, like 'quote' or something added. Likes can't go far wrong

-Link to the games mentioned

Overall, it's alright IMO, but with more articles and a more professional presentation (which shouldn't be too difficult) it could be much better...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

My only real issue is the quality of the journalism. Most of the time it's good, but I want my news to be serious and without political jabs or any other jabs for that matter. Present the story and let me decide if it's good or bad, rather than come off as biased. Both quality and credibility will improve if this is done.

My main issue with the site is the massive amount of ads and other clutter.  I just opened this page in IE and have 5 flash/movie ads for WoW, one other movie ad for some MMORPG, another large ad in the middle of the page and T-shirt banners on each side which take up about 40% of screen.  If you press the side by accident it brings me to another page about those shirts.

There is also another bar on the bottom of the screen which follows the screen with links to twitter, facebook and a few other sites.  The site moves very slow and has many problems when trying to scroll down or up.  Due to this i'm forced to use FF block all ads, the t-shirt background and the bar that follows the page just to have the site perform normally.  I have a fast computer and interet so unsure why it screws up.

Other then that i have no real concerns which weren't already mentioned.

The most annoying thing on gamerFeed is how unprofessional and unnecessary most articles are. I get that the writers  are allowed to express their opinion, but in some cases they obviously mock the consoles, which is completely unprofessional. I'm annoyed when I read things like "ps3 sales increase by x%; now if only they could do something about those anemic ps2/psp sales". Like seriously, how is this anything close to journalism?

Also, many writers try to get as many hits by using evidently misleading titles. Are there no consequences? Why do they keep doing that?

Lastly, how many rumor articles are allowed? How can you cite the Sun, or other similar completely inreliable sources?

I think, reading from this ioi, the things that need to be done are:

  • Make articles more professional/less bias
  • Less rumour articles
  • Less ads
  • More condensed
  • More professional
I think that's about right...
