PS3's Netflix is easier to set up, you just say that you're an existing member and type in your account info. For some reason Xbox gives you an activation code that is to be sent to you're email and then you type that in blah blah I don't even know what happens next because I lost interest so fast and just stopped trying. Long story short its harder to set up.

It's probably just the convenience of being able to set it up so fast that makes the PS3's Netflix the more often used.

Nope.  I've had to use an activation code for PS3, Wii, and 360.  You can go to Netflix.com and deactivate your PS3 and try to reactivate it if you want to.  When you turn on your new device (I even had to do it with a Netflix enabled TV I had for a couple of days back in January), the code pops up on the TV.  You have to go to the Netflix site to finish it up.  You can't have Netflix on more than about five devices so the set up is pretty much universal (only exception is the PC, as far as I know).

It goes like this:  Turn on Netflix.  Number pops up on screen.  Go to Netflix (different URL for Wii/PS3/360) and type in the number.  Same for all three systems.

I don't know what you did but for both my PS3 and iPad all I had to do was select the "I'm an existing member" option and type in my email and password for the account and I was done. With Xbox there is a verification code even if you choose the existing member option.

It might be worth mentioning that I set up my netflix account after the Firmware update that added the Netflix app. Maybe you were using the disc version idk. But I never ran into that problem.

I also only have it on 4 devices

My 120gb 360(this is where I set up the account), My PS3 Slim, My PS3 Fat 80gb PS2 compatible, and my iPad. I have a 20gb 360 that for some reason give me the activation code to enter on Netflix.com which is weird so I gave up. It might also be worth mentioning that I tried to set it up on the 20gb 360 before I even tried on my 80gb PS3 and iPad. I don't know why its doing that maybe you can explain that to me.

I did set up my PS3 and Wii when we had to use the discs.  In fact, I still have the discs for some reason.  I should have set them on fire by now.  I got Netflix because of the 360 integration but eventually went to other devices.  If you don't have to use the 4 digit code anymore, that's news to me.  I'll test it one day when I'm bored.

I read about this a few days ago.

I wonder if we can expect our Netflix rates to go up because of this.

Here in the U.S., Nexflix rates have increased.  In fact, there is now a Netfix streaming only option for like $8 USD monthly.

Yeah it raised by a dollar, I am currently on a 2-disc at a time plan and live in the US.

I was just curious if this new info would raise our rates further.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

funny for me it's a bit cut in rates from back when I was a subscriber. I used to pay a little over 18 a month for unlimited discs. That was around the time the started streaming and I could only watch 18 hours of streaming a month. Now I can stream unlimited although don't have any discs although even if I did it would still be much cheaper than what I used to pay.

The Netflix app for PS3 is better than 360 one... so expected.

LMFAO, hahahahahaha, hehahohehaho... no it's not, but thanks for the good laugh.

 "Xbox Pause"

So saying "Xbox Pause" is faster than pressing a pause button?

ABSOLUTELY, when I'm sitting back on my couch and the controller is on the table, or if I get up to walk out of the room, I can be in the other room and yell "Xbox Pause" and it works fine.

You know when your watching a movie (No Matter the console) and your a good 40min in, the Controller turns off, then you have to turn it on, and then hit pause.  Saying "Xbox Pause" is so much easier.

Netflix on 360 starts up quicker in my house, PS3 takes to long to load and for box art to show up, just doesn't feel as solid as the 360 version.

Why would you be in the "other room" to watch a movie?  And my remote controllers NEVER turn off unless the battery is dead or the device it's suppose to control is off.  Also, it's far more precise to press a button to play a scene after rewinding and/or fast forwarding instead of timing it to play at an exact point after saying "Xbox (function)."  But for some it's better.  I'm not going to argue that.  So for those who are willing to pay $210 extra USD to have this better feature ($60 for XBL Gold $150 Kinect) more power to them.

Please don't tout BS $210 extra charge for a feature as if thats the only thing Kinect is used for, thats like saying why did I spend $300 on a PS3/360 when I could have bought a $79.00 BR Player to watch Netflix.  Kinect Netflix function just came out and is an added bonus.  Xbox Rewind and Fastforward work flawlessly, the same as using the remote so I don't know what your talking about with "precision".

Why would I be in the other room?  because I get up from the couch to walk into the other room, you know to take care of other things. The world DOES NOT STOP when I'm watching a movie. When I walk out of the room, I forget to pause, so I yell 'Xbox pause', it's really not that hard to understand.

I guess you have the only controllers on the planet that don't turn off when not in use to save battery life, congrats on that.

First off, typing in bold gets annoying.

Second, are you really that lazy where you can't hit the PS button followed by pause?

First off, FANTASTIC! thanks for the heads up.

Second, it's called convenience, also when you have other things in your hands like bowl of popcorn and drinks, it's more of a "convenience" to just say what you want your system/movie to do.

Give it Sega, He's very passionate about talkin to his 360.

Yeah, the PS3 controller doesn't turn off automatically. It's the stupidest thing ever, I usually just end up turning it off  myself. Either that or sit there seeing the "controller one is low on power blah blah blah"

you realize there is a power save feature on the controllers and system.

you can set the controllers to either never turn off, or turn off at a predetermined times, same with the console?

have you ever used that ps3 of yours?

Thats not the way I had to do it. I just entered in my username and password and it loaded right up for me.

Well you have to give it to him though Kinect does make it easy to use. But the Ps3 Netflix just runs better for me and I haven't renewed my XBL Gold membership, and won't until Gears 3. So I can't use Netflix on my 360 and even if I could I'd still choose the PS3. 360 Netflix has little hiccups, probably bandwith issues but it will stop for a second to catch itself neither my iPad or Ps3 do that. Well actually the iPad does that when I'm moving but thats understandable.

The biggest reason there is less traffic on the 360 for netflix is the MS own rental service is far better.   I find myself usually renting movies from the Zune library over using the netflix service.  Of course if netflix has the new release I want to rent (which it usually doesn't since they are new releases), I'll use netflix since I don't have to pay any additional charges aside from the monthly subscription.

All in all the 360 just has more choices, better choices actually over netflix, the competition doesn't
