I need help from every hardened Sony fan out there concerning Sonic Heroes (ps2 GC XBOX) I want to know if it's good or not.

Before you answer, here's what to consider.

My brother (8 going on 9) wants a PS2 for his birthday (7 june)  because he really wants to play this game. (The guy is a Sonic obsessive, so much so, he's willing to play Dark Chronicles over and over again.  He caught wind of Sonic Heroes and wants get but I'm trying to talk him out of it because I don't think buying consoles for just one game is worth the price and also I don't want to give him my treasured ps2 (Not parting from it until FFX- X/2-XII collection and the Persona collections are announced for the ps3 ¬_¬)

Which leaves me in a tough spot.

1: Is it good enough to fork out £100 for a ps2 console brand new or to a lesser extent £23 used?

2: Is there a better version of the game he could play on say...the Wii?

3: Is it possible to beat this Sonic Addiction from him? Seriously, I can't stand that annoying little Hedgehog >.<

Get the GC version and let him play on the Wii?

i didnt even know there was a PC version, i wonder how that runs. Hell i might even get it, i loved it when i had it for GC

you would be so much more awesome in the eyes of your bother if you got him a ps2... you should take advantage of that later in life..

To answer question 3.

Get him to play the Megadrive/Mega CD games. He will never look at a 3D Sonic again.

You should get him Sonic Mega Collection, especially if he's a stranger to good old 2D Sonic!

Know the feeling my nephew is the same way.  When I didn't know some obscure Sonic character he looked at me as if I was retarded.  lol

If he likes games like The Dark Brotherhood, the 2D games will always feel somewhat inferior

Sonic Adventure 2 is the 2nd best game of all time in my eyes, and thus clearly best in its franchise, and thus i've never quite loved the 2d games as much of the 3d ones (and has put me against popular core gamer opinion regarding 3d sonics for quite some time)
