Why doesn't Nintendo remake more of it's nes games? Square seems to love remaking their old games. I really enjoyed the Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy IV remakes for the DS. They also did a good job on the FFI and FF II for the Psp with detailed sprites. Eidos also Remade Tomb raider for their anniversary and it was awesome. Nintendo remade metroid and the gameboy pokemon games for the generation you'd think they give Zelda the treatment too.

I would really love to see the first Legend of zelda remade for the 3ds or even better the Cafe. A remake of the first game would have been perfect for the anniversaryof Zelda. It doesn't even have to be in 3d a detailed sprite remake like with the FF I and II remakes for the PSP would be just as good. I just wish they would have remade a different game then the one they always do.

If you had to pick a Zelda game other than OOT to be remade for the 3ds which would it be?

I want a new Zelda too. I'm already getting tired of replaying OOT. I would really like a zelda to be in a different time period instead of the medieval time setting they always seem to go for. I was hoping after Spirt Tracks had trains in it the series would slowly evolve to a more modern era. Or at least some kind of Steam punk kind of setting with a little magic thrown in. I was a little dissapointed that they are going back to what they always do with Skyward Sword.

Didn't you hear that Miyamoto said remaking link to the past would be wonderfull? I expect it will surface eventually.

I would have have made a similar comment to this, but I would have been afraid that RolStoppable guy would have accused me of trolling on the 3DS again.

A new one is always preferable. But for the sake of this thread, I picked Oracles, because I think that is the one(two) that have been played the least and are the least well known, so they deserve to be remade so a larger audience can experiance them. If you haven't played LttP before, there are still tons of ways to get it, Oracles aren't (legally) playable anymore, unless you have a GB and the original carts so...

Really, the only one I would want to see remade in 3D would be Wind Waker. That is easily the most gorgeous looking Zelda game yet.

But really, 3D wouldn't really add much to a game that didn't require it before no?

Well Link's Awakening has already been confirmed for the 3DS' e-shop thing right, and it supposedly going to be in 3D too. I'd fully expect the Oracle games and perhaps Minish Cap to get the same treatment, then. And who knows, if those games bring in enough cash, Nintendo might even give us games like the original LOZ, Zelda II, and ALTTP for 3DS?

Then again, I'd much rather see a completely new Zelda anyday, but remakes and re-releases are a quick and easy way to make some cash, in some cases a LOT of cash, so we'll probably continue seeing them release. But as long as they're outsourced to 2nd or 3rd party devs, I'm fine with it. That way Nintendo's top teams can work on new games. ^^

None of the answers in the poll are satisfactory.  I would prefer a new Zelda game over a remake any day.  For that matter, I'd prefer a completely new Zelda game--one which goes so far as to break the trap the bulk of the games have fallen into:  A new plotline for once that isn't the same old "Mystery guy (turns out to be Ganon) bothers fascinating new lady (turns out to be Zelda) only to have lady rescued and guy defeated by young boy wearing tunic (turns out to be Link).

I don't care if Zelda or Ganon are involved, but can't their roles change?  Can't they both be victims of a greater evil?  Can't Gannondorf be head of a vast empire that has no interest in kidnapping Zelda?  Can't we, you know, have something new in the series for once?

I can't tell if you mean remaking the 2D Zeldas in 3D like the 3DS has, or you mean 3D as in change A Link to the Past to the design of Ocarina of Time. I assume you mean the latter, so to that I say it's largely pointless. 2D Zeldas and 3D Zeldas are for the most part functionally the same, and the few things that seperate them would need to change to keep the game up to speed, essentially removing it as a straight remake. It would be more of a reimagining. I would actually rather them revisit top down view Zelda once in a blue moon in an original adventure, instead of always delivering them in 3D. The last one they put out, The Minish Cap, which was outcourced, was both easier to produce and was freaking fantastic.
