the haters got served?

PS3 was the underdog here, and will probably overtake before even wii2 comes out.

Also, I wonder if we align the ps3 with the ps2 in terms of revenue. I bet more has been spent by consumers on the ps3 at this point in time, than on the ps2. So regardless of whether or not 360 has gained a better foothold, I don't think ps3 has really lost anything besides their own profits, which is questionable when matched with a video format which will continue for another 10 years or so. Time will tell, as it always does.

Since when was the PS3 the underdog? The follow up to the console which sold 150M vs the console which sold 25M and you're calling the former the underdog?! I think you're a little confused...

I'd like to point you to lafiel's post just above. Ps3 has been DOOMED for the last five years. We've had the "PS3 has no gaems" slogan, "Sony just copies everything" slogan, "600$", "RIIIIDGE RACER" etc etc. Now, PS3 is on the brink of outselling the 360 and suddenly it doesn't matter?

There's been five years of crazy shit talking.

I will agree that at the outset of this generation, maybe 360 was he underdog (unless of course you count the wii). But over the course of the generation, PS3 and playstation gamers have been shit on so much that it's NOW the underdog.

Just my opinion.

Maybe you can call them the supporters underdog if you want because they haven't been given the praise etc they deserved for their performance thus far but you can't really call them the underdog entirely. Still much of the PS3s advantage rests upon the fact that the PS2 was so successful and the Wii's demise and the close features and value between the Xbox 360 and PS3 causes people to default to their favoured conole which is usually the PS3 especially in 2nd world countries and Japan.

Remember theres 5 years of shit talking on both sides. You have to separate the shit talking which was the answer to the shit talking of others from the actual bagging of the system, noone has really bagged the PS3 since early 2009 AFAIT when I made the 'PS3 is domed thread'. You'll probably find that the PS3 is significantly more well liked than many of the people who claim to like the PS3 (fanboys), and I do mean significantly.

Hot chicks magnet: Wii >>>>>>>>>>>> 360 = Ps3

CONCLUSION: 360 > PS3 >>> WII

The Wii won in four categories, the 360 and PS3 each won in three. The 360 can boast one more second place than the PS3, so it has the advantage. Therefore:

Wii >> 360 > PS3

And surprise, surprise. That's the same order as the current LTD sales of these consoles.

Nope...Wii won more of the non-postive categories

You should check that again.

Ah I see...true....I should add mommas and grannies magnet category aswell..will that be a positive or non-positive category.

Well, going against the grain helped them this gen.  Motion gaming was just different and appealing enough to bring in a lot of casuals for Nintendo.  But next gen, that won't help them because MS and Sony will both motion gaming right off the bat, not 4-5 years later.

And Cafe will only force MS and Sony kill off their systems if it is hugely successful at launch.  I don't see it initially being that big, since when it releases it will probably cost $150-$200 more than the cheapest PS3/360 SKU, while most of its games will be made up of slightly better looking ports.  Even if it is successful, I think Sony and MS were already shooting for a 2013/2014 launch for their next consoles.

But I don't want motion controls!!!

*cries in the corner*.

Lol, I wouldn't worry too much.  I'm sure Sony will keep its current model and just have motion controls as an optional control scheme, with only a few Move-only games, as opposed to forcing you to play with them.

They need to crap that, it just doesn't work, and it isn't the audience that SONY should be targetting. Let Nintendo do that.

PS3 will sell near 17 million in fiscal year... the gap today is 2.8 million at end of December (waiting the end of March numbers).

360 will shell (even up YOY) at maximum 14 million.

PS3 will outsell 360 before 31th March 2012 shippment... two quarters before Wii 2 come out.

I should also point out that Microsoft seems to think that they will be up YOY for the rest of the year as well... Never underestimate that comment made by Greenburg that Microsoft would stay in 2nd place. I suspect they prioritise profits only to the point where the PS3 is in 3rd place and they are in a comfortable 2nd place. So between those two factors I always expected if the PS3 ever got dangerously close they would make a large price cut. Since they haven't made a price cut in a while and have quite large margins with their ASP @ >$270 in the U.S. they have significant leeway in cutting their SKUs in price. Only Microsoft can make any profit with low priced hardware because they have Xbox Live, they could practically give their hardware away and still make money in the long term. I wouldn't bet on Sony winning a hardware price cut race which is probably why they haven't tried.

So MS is going to give the 360 away for free soon?

They could give it away for free with a 3 year plan...

or with a Kinect and its vast library of games.
