I hate the fact that Nintendo keep going against the grain, it doesn't help that the consoles have varying power, but if Nintendo release Project Cafe early then SONY and MS are going to need to kill off their systems prematurely. It is kinda similar to what the Dreamcast did, but that console was just so awesome =). But this isn't 1999, my wallet is going to be completely raped. |
Well, going against the grain helped them this gen. Motion gaming was just different and appealing enough to bring in a lot of casuals for Nintendo. But next gen, that won't help them because MS and Sony will both motion gaming right off the bat, not 4-5 years later.
And Cafe will only force MS and Sony kill off their systems if it is hugely successful at launch. I don't see it initially being that big, since when it releases it will probably cost $150-$200 more than the cheapest PS3/360 SKU, while most of its games will be made up of slightly better looking ports. Even if it is successful, I think Sony and MS were already shooting for a 2013/2014 launch for their next consoles.
