Actually, I see the PS3 outselling the 360 before Project Cafe launches.  And the PS3 outselling the 360 will be very meaningful at this point.  It will mean Sony has the best momentum going into next gen.  And taking in account that Sony is very doubtful to make the same mistake next gen, it will only help them even more.  I think next gen we may very see the return of the PS brand being on top.  Plus, it's pretty good to be able to outsell your competition when they've had a SKU $100 cheaper than your cheapest SKU for over a year.

I also don't see Project Cafe having much successas the Wii.  If rumors are true, it will be more powerful to the PS3, but the graphics will still be comparable.  More like Nintendo is just playing catch up graphically.  If this is the case, more people will just stick with the cheaper PS3 and 360, and not even feel as if the next gen has truly started.

I hate the fact that Nintendo keep going against the grain, it doesn't help that the consoles have varying power, but if Nintendo release Project Cafe early then SONY and MS are going to need to kill off their systems prematurely.

It is kinda similar to what the Dreamcast did, but that console was just so awesome =). But this isn't 1999, my wallet is going to be completely raped.

Well, going against the grain helped them this gen.  Motion gaming was just different and appealing enough to bring in a lot of casuals for Nintendo.  But next gen, that won't help them because MS and Sony will both motion gaming right off the bat, not 4-5 years later.

And Cafe will only force MS and Sony kill off their systems if it is hugely successful at launch.  I don't see it initially being that big, since when it releases it will probably cost $150-$200 more than the cheapest PS3/360 SKU, while most of its games will be made up of slightly better looking ports.  Even if it is successful, I think Sony and MS were already shooting for a 2013/2014 launch for their next consoles.

But I don't want motion controls!!!

*cries in the corner*.

Momentum matters, though. And the PS3 is gaining more momentum than any other console. Moreover Sony needs for a very big active install base to fulfil its 10 years plan, for game sales on legacy consoles are slower.

Lol, I wouldn't worry too much.  I'm sure Sony will keep its current model and just have motion controls as an optional control scheme, with only a few Move-only games, as opposed to forcing you to play with them.

so basically you want to give us a couple of excuses as to why it doesnt matter your prediction was wrong.

i dont care how much each system sells but i dont like it when people say this gen of systems should be forgotten just because the new ones come out.

ps3 will be selling for another 5 years, if xbox or wii doesnt, it doesnt mean this gen has ended, it just means their life cycle wasnt good enough.

I dont really care what consoles sell,I owned the first xbox over the ps2 and even if it was in last place I enjoyed it!

So all you waiting for a certain console to overtake another console just look foolish...

what has either company done for you anyways?

The hardcore Sony will use their usual motto this gen.

"Just wait until...."

and when it happens, the hardcore MS will say,

"it never mattered. We're just trolls"

If it happens, bet every prediction you've made on when the PS3 would overtake the 360 has been wrong.

The hardcore MS fans don't visit this site, the likes of you have long since driven them off.

Trust me, they're being driven off everywhere. Whether it's because ps3 is making a surprising comeback, or because xbots only care to talk smack and then leave, it doesn't really matter why.

CONCLUSION: 360 > PS3 >>> WII

The Wii won in four categories, the 360 and PS3 each won in three. The 360 can boast one more second place than the PS3, so it has the advantage. Therefore:

Wii >> 360 > PS3

And surprise, surprise. That's the same order as the current LTD sales of these consoles.

Nope...Wii won more of the non-postive categories
