Forums - Gaming - So i just finished Portal 2 ! Sweet game...

I loved it, I was cracking up the whole game even though there were some low points.

I wasn't a huge fan of potato Glados.  I like the situation, I didn't like listening to her when she was in that form.  The game also tended to drag a little in the final few puzzles.  It was nice that they were harder but I was ready for the game to end a few hours before it actually did.

Still though, beyond excellent game.

I agree with everything here, Portal 2 is awesomely awesome but it left me with a bitter taste because the ending song sucked. I was totally expecting a worthy sequel to Still Alive and it ended up being an insult to its memory. Other than that, the game dragged a bit in the middle (the Cave Johnson part), but it's still gonna be prolly the best game I'm gonna play in a long long time

Though I've only heard Want You Gone once, I don't really wanna hear it again

Really?  I agree it wasn't as good as Still Alive but it still has a certain charm to it.

Also, I thought I was special for getting the opera because I rescued the "I'm different" turret (I didn't even let it die in the little field) and that's why they sand to me.  I was sad when I found out everyone got that ending.  ;_;

hoping to finish it this weekend

I need spoilers. Any allusions to Half-Life 2 Episode 3? COME ON PEOPLE!

EDIT: Oh and fuck portal.

I never played the original but thought that i would give this one a go, and had no expectations. But man this game was awesome. The core idea is very simplistic... but the presentation and backstory make this awesome. It felt like i was playing bioshock... you know revisiting old areas that people have not been in for years.

I have yet to start a co op game because i dont have anyone to play it with and of course the PSN is still down. I heard that playing the co op on your own would be really hard too.

What do you guys think?

Yes, some would argue its impossible

The local co-op is a treat. Grab a buddy and play through it.

the game was fun, the fluids a great idea, the writing was hysterical but it was waaay to easy.  portal 1 pretty much every puzzle could be solved in several different ways, every surface was portable, and you really had to think.  portal 2 there was almost always only one answer, portable surfaces only appeared where "needed" and half the time there was marks on the ground that screamed "put it here".  i was far too coddled imo.  but overall, good game.

They should release Portal 1 on PSN. When it's back up.

I finished Poratl 2 last night. Great game, funny. Even had my 17 year old daughter hanging out watching and laughing as I played. I thought is was easier than Portal 1. It is interesting how linear Portal 2 is...and, yet was that ever a criticism in reviews? It seems like over the past few year I have been reading more criticisms of linearity in videogames...maybe not.

The game I fished before Portal 2 was Killzone 3 and I remeber it's linearity was a major criticiism.

I never paid attention to the reviewers that criticized linearity in a videogame...but for some reason after finishing Killzone 3 and, especiall,y Portal 2 I dont see how linearity can  be a critcism. Both great games...but Portal 2 is so obviously linear and a great game. I could see bringing up linearlity in a review, because some people may not like linear games, but to critcize a game for being linear, doesnt make sense to me anymore.

The first half of the game was simple though in the second half there were some stumpers.  Some of those were because I'm just stupid sometimes, others were actually hard.  I heard some of the co-op ones get pretty hard too.

I think the two that gave me the most trouble was White-Out (the one where you had to paint the room) and one of the anti-gravity ones.  The white-out one because I just completely missed the one piece you had to paint and then accidently triggered the success dialogue without solving it (make an infinite portal under the part you're supposed to jump to and it triggers it every time).

The anti-gravity one, man, that one had me stumped for a really long time.  It's the one where you have to send the blue gel down the anti gravity beam through a portal to where it starts and then change the direction of the anti-grav beam and send the gel over the turrets.  That was a mind bending one.

And then there were others that took me a while because I just missed one little thing or I didn't paint something exactly right.
