does anyone believe that those motorStorm numbers are accurate. i just have a really hard time believeing that, its a proven million selling game, theres no way its doing that bad.

also psn needs to go back up, and soon. its kiiling sales like Killzone and especially SOCOM, socom depends on psn.

PSN being down still seems to have a minimal effect overall, but the numbers are getting low all around. After inFAMOUS 2, nothing will spike until at least Sept time.

I hate to be "that guy" but after all the retailer articles and news and hearing plenty of anecdotal evidence around my parts as well, I have a feeling there will be adjustments to PS3 sales soon. Maybe after May NPD.

Remember how big the world is. A few people skipping out on systems/trading in systems will have just that; a minimal effect on the overall big picture.

Sure, you could be right, but I doubt they'll be any notable adjustment. I think people really want the system regardless, it's got a healthy enough library of games and many people don't have/care about online anyway.

It's gonnna be so crazy when the PS3 drops to $200. It will be the most effective price cut out of all 3 consoles in terms of HW boosts.

And sure that the mega $ that Sony has had to put into PSN fix, lawsuits, customer satisfaction is just delaying that further and further out.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

I have to say that doesn't make much sense at all.

I think it might. The game sold faster than previous GTs only because of the holidays. I doubt it'll open up the franchise to all new people, so it's slow down makes sense (it's evening out with GT4). It will surge once more when the price comes down and then again (perhaps) if another bundle is introduced.

As I've been saying, I can see it clearing 10 million, but not much more.

Yeah I suppose your right about that. But I still see it as being at least somewhat undertracked.

How many you think PD shipped through March'11?

The Wii is the first generation-leader since...well...ever, to relinquish its dominant sales leadership to the competition. It never happened before since before the NES, look it up. All previous generation leaders go down after their competition bit the dust a long while ahead of them. Sure the Wii will clear the 100 million sales mark and has made quite a lot of money, but the way it's ending its tenure brings about serious concerns for their next generation console. It will also be the first time a sales leader releases a next-gen console ahead of the "losers".

**and notice I'm talking about only home consoles in this post**

Sega Master System lost against the NES, so Sega Genesis was released before Nintendo SNES.

Sega Genesis lost to SNES, so Sega Saturn was released before the N64.

Sega Saturn lost to PlayStation, so Sega Dreamcast was released before PS2.

Sega left the hardware business, and Nintendo didn't launch their next one (Gamecube) ahead, but still :

Xbox lost to PS2, so Xbox 360 was released before PS3.

Now the Wii "wins" (???) and Wii2 is launching ahead of the others?  There's something crearly wrong with that picture.

Wii may have been Nintendo's last hurrah in the home-console  market.

Well, all previous market leaders had one thing the Wii doesn't; robust 3rd party support. Nintendo's internal studios can only carry them so far (which I'm guessing they realize), so in essence, the Wii is this gen's "loser" on that end.

They also had restyles, actually I think Wii is the best selling single model of a console. If Nintendo listened partially to Pachter and made a Wii redesign (not a Wii HD, which in Pachter's opinion was pratically a new console!) probably now its sales would be about double, even without support, which is why it's dying despit the initial record sales.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

Motorstorm is like Osama....DEAD (too soon?)? Anyhow, the first game sold so much due to bundling and lack of software. Looka the other sales; they have been declining.

Maybe 6.7-6.9 mill

@ yo_john: Maybe a bit undertracked (100-200k tops), but nothing approaching the 500k in it's first adjustment.

200k is 15k per week for three months... my table would be very different.
